Vincent Tan meets Cardiff City Women's team

Winning the Welsh Womens league and Womens Welsh Cup

Cardiff City Women's team, after a double-winning campaign winning the Welsh Womens league and Womens Welsh Cup. , under manager Iain Darbyshire, were invited to the Malaysian High Commission in Belgravia, London, on Wednesday to meet club owner Vincent Tan.

Tan, who was in the English capital in co-ordination with the Malaysian delegates who jetted in for King Charles III's coronation last weekend, invited the squad and was present at the meeting. While he later treated the squad to dinner at the plush Novikov restaurant in Mayfair.

Darbyshire's side were crowned back-to-back FAW Women's Cup winners with a 4-0 victory against Briton Ferry Llansawel last month following their undefeated league season in which they won the Adran Premier in emphatic fashion.

Tan is set to hold talks with the men's team manager, Sabri Lamouchi, over his future in the coming days.

Always intrigues me that Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham women's teams play in the Welsh system.

Even more intriguing when there is another Cardiff team in the English System.

It’s because it’s easy and very low standard.

Good on him for that. Quick to knock him but I can also give credit where it’s due.

This is untrue and unfair. CCFC women play in Wales as they are affiliated to the Welsh FA. They are not allowed to play in England.

The other Cardiff Team have always played in England historically I believe.

Standards are rising year on year , to say its easy is incorrect. They can only play what's in front of them, this year CCFC train, I believe, 3 times weekly which is a massive commitment from an amateur team. I know you meant no disrespect but its needs to be supported for it to grow. A CCFC team won a double this year, when was the last time any other CCFC team did?

There needs to be a British or at least allow existing English league men’s clubs to field a women’s team in the same pyramid.

For anyone with serious eyes on a professional set up, the Welsh league is a joke.

I think it’s great women’s football is being promoted and I hope it brings many more new lovers of the game in. But our girls being stuck in the Welsh league? anyone decent will go play in England for the profile, support and income.

Can we link up with the other Cardiff city women’s team and give our girls a path to a better league?

Before I’m shouted at - We have a weak poorly supported men’s football league with few if any that would make it in the English pyramid.

We can’t even support a rugby set up properly which has been in existence longer than the welsh football league.

Why would a women’s game which historically has fewer grass roots players and a lower profile fare better?

To clarify. I’m 100% behind building the women’s team. It’s brilliant. I just want them to have meaningful competition
