Burnley now in 'pole position' to buy Vincent Tan's club after tabling bid
By Glen Williams

Burnley are said to be in "pole position" to buy Vincent Tan's Belgian club KV Kortrijk, according to reports on the continent.

We have kept a close eye on things in Kortrijk in recent months, with local news outlets claiming Tan is keen to sell the Jupiler Pro League side and Burnley, Bournemouth, Newcastle United and an American investment group have all been credited with interest.

Belgian outlet HLN report that Burnley have made a takeover bid of €15m (£13m) for KV Kortrijk.

American investment consortium the Kaminski Group have also offered the same amount, according to the news outlet, but talks are said to be progression in the "right direction" with the Premier League-bound Clarets.

The report adds that it could all be coming to a head by the end of next week.

Due to the huge uncertainty enveloping Kortrijk, the club, like their Welsh counterparts, have been unable to appoint a new manager after it was announced Bernd Storck would leave at the end of last season.

KVK chairman Ronny Verhelst and general manager Matthias Leterme left the club last month, citing friction with the owner. The report adds that Burnley, should they take over, want Leterme to reconsider staying.

Should we see this as the beginning of the end for Tan and his whole football venture?

If he had any remaining interest in a football empire why would he sell.

If a feeder club is the way forward for clubs like Burnley surely it would be the same for us IF the goal was still Premier League and growth of the product.

Sven i was thinking about this last night and was wondering whether this could be a route to get around the ban.

In exchange for the sale of FC kortrijk Burnley provide us with£15m worth of players

Is this possible?
