The problem Vincent Tan Now Faces, is that selling Cardiff C

Mon May 29, 2023 2:33 pm

The problem that Vincent Tan faces, is that selling Cardiff City and cutting his losses is easier said than done.

Anyone buying Cardiff City FC must allow a very substantial amount of money to be spent on players and their wages as well as a good management team.

If on top of that they have to pay Vincent Tan a premium for his shares, and furthermore have to assume all or part of the debts he himself have created,so then we are talking big numbers, running into the hundreds of Millions.

Add to this the very unfortunate Emiliano Sala issue and the litigation cases that (Continue to) follow; Nantes, the Insurance Company, the Players agent etc, and the current existing transfer embargo.

Albeit specualtory, there may be potential more future sanctions not beyond the realms of possibility if we refuse to pay further sums that become due to Nantes.

So Tan wants approx £200mill which he says he has lost in Cardiff City, plus all the debts cleared.

Up to now three offers have been received, confirmed by Tans Chairman Mehmet Dalman.

One of the offers was around £100mill.

Via Dalman, Tan has said he will never sell to Sam Hammam, NO matter what he has offered or increases to. So that’s Sam Hammam out for good.

This is why the situation in summary is not an easy one for Vincent Tan to exit.

Vincent Tan simply cannot lose all this money, his own fortune has already devalued by at least 1/3.

Tan is trapped in his own golden cage and cannot get out even if he wanted to.

Tan now has his Chairman Dalman now lending our club up to £30mill with interest to cover the losses and yes the losses have gone down the last three seasons, but so has the football gone down with it and so apparently next season even less.

Tan has tried to play with a squad full of ex Accademy players, to save money, but that failed badly.

Last season Tan tried to play with a squad of mainly free agents and loans but that virtually got Cardiff City relegated.

Selling Cardiff City:

The only way that Tan can sell the Club is to take a massive hit on the Two Hundred Million pounds(?) he says he has lost in Cardiff City.

It is unlikely he will do that, but if he becomes desperate, he may give this consideration.

If Vincent Tan is to sell, he would, understandably, want to get a good chunk of his outlay back. It is probably unlikely that anyone will satisfy what he would want. This is the case because any buyer would definitely want to allocate a big budget to take the Club forward, perhaps One Hundred Million pounds or more. If on top of this one also has to pay for Tans shares, which cost in excess of a One Hundred Million pounds and have to pay all the creditors and loans at possibly/potentially a similar figure the sums are accumulating fast.

When you consider the Nantes situation and the transfer embargo and now the borrowing, Tan is digging a bigger hole for himself and our club.

My worry is that the budget is being cut every season and even more for next season, we are seeing cheaper and inexperienced managers.

The Chairman Dalman and The CEO Ken Choo work else where, so the day to day running of our club has been getting less time spent on it.

So for me Tan has to either cut his losses and sell.

Or

Let another person or company join him

Or

invest himself next season

Or

Continue to lend of Mehmet Dalman at 9%-10% interest like Tan is now currently doing.

I got a sneaky feeling there's going to come a huge surprise soon.
NO evidence.
NOT itk.
Just a feeling as things cannot continue on this path.

I honestly think he should cut his loses while he can and sell up. He obviously doesn’t want to spend money on a push to the premiership, he’s just hoping we can get there on the cheap. It can obviously be done, as a few clubs have done it, but I don’t think this will happen for us. He needs to make a choice soon because he’s going to loose at lot more money if we end up going down next season.

Don't worry folks as some how said on here repeatedly over the years and hes said it himself "We will be debt free" soon and in better hands than he found the club in

No way will Tan get £200 million for the city, a bid of around £130-140 million would be fair and i think he would consider. Remember, if Tan keeps running the club as he is we will go down, then he'd be lucky to get £80 million for the city.

Thanks Mr Tan for all you have done for us. It is appreciated by most of us fans. But now you have a new dilema.

At present the only way our beloved club is going is South. That means certain relegation in the 2023/24 season.

Unfortunately for you, that puts you between a rock and a hard place. Your options are limited. You can either sell at a loss or decide to persevere on a minimal budget and pray to your God for a miracle.

Without substantial investment I suggest the sad dark days of L1 awaits. So over to you Mr Tan.....are you going to stick and pray the dealer hits 2 coulered cards.......or are you going to invest and bring our club back to where we deserve it to be?

As always.....the choice is yours.... :bluebird:

Jules,

Tan can quite easily keep us running on a shoe string. where that will get us, possible relegation next season, none of us know.

Sadly I am hearing Dalman can lend us money for a few more years and it’s less next season.

Read with great interest...

Tan needs to accept ( not realise, because he already knows) that he has options.

Fans appear now to be either demanding or begging that he goes.

Why does he not sell? because he is asking too much money. What do we hear? A valuation is a figure that someone will realistically pay for a good/item.

Is Tan deliberateley over valuing us??

Tan does have three options... sell, share the burden ( leaving the running of the football side to others) or invest. Only the second or last option will give him the best chance of getting amywhere near his money back. He is stubbornly choosing option one, for what reason, I really dont know...

Your so nearly on the same thoughts and beliefs of mine Jonny.

Sadly we are spot on.

That's what I mean, MD and his group will take the club over, the surprise will be on Tan. IMHO.

If this does happen then its makes me wonder what deal will be left behind for Tan.

With a small stretch of a dark imagination in 12 months we could be expecting a “derby” with a team that cost £5million led by a Mr. Bale. In my 60 years loving one club I’ve seen just about every example of the “good, bad and ugly” but this is the saddest I’ve ever felt. It’s if we’re in an alternative reality, surely in another these three are sleeping on a park bench, in debtor’s prison or working in the family restaurant.

Agree - He and his clowns are running this club downhill in the running of the club / press /comings and goings etc etc ....
This club would now make - Homes Under The Hammer rather than Grand Designs !!! ;)

Does Tan really think he will get 80-100 million? That’s laughable…..if we go down next season which at the moment looks likely he’d be lucky to get 20/30 million. He should cut his losses now, but he won’t will he, still thinks he knows best despite losing 200 million or whatever figure he’s dreamt up…

Personally I don't think he does. Well I hope he doesn't.

His downfall is going to be his stubbornest. He will not want to lose face over this what must be his biggest adventure ever.

I honestly believe he will hang onto us and it will not bother him if we drop down a league or 2. He most likely has look at clubs like Luton, Coventry and now Wrexham where he thinks it could happen to us.

Tan is pursuing a £100 million lawsuit through the courts. I cannot see how he can do this if he doesn't own the club.

Civil lawsuits can be done now. later, anytime even after selling the club.

He obviously has some business sense as he is loaded but as far as football is concerned he has very little or none.
We are his toy and he is currently throwing us out of his pram.
Tan get the f**k out of our club and take your clown puppets with you.
