Oscar Garcia on Bluebirds shortlistBy Glen WilliamsSpanish manager Oscar Garcia is on the list of potential bosses to take over at Cardiff City.
Italian journalist Matteo Moretto posted this afternoon that Garcia, who most recently managed French club Reims, is wanted by both Cardiff and Swansea City.
We also understand Garcia is on a shortlist of candidates for the two Welsh rivals. The former Brighton and Watford boss once took the Seagulls to the Championship play-offs and has won various trophies abroad.
Garcia has now been out of a job for over a year.
Cardiff have looked domestically and abroad and have whittled down their short list, with Garcia understood to be one of the names on it as the process to appoint Sabri Lamouchi's successor begins to move at a pace.
Place your bets!

This one excites me. Previous experience at Brighton and Watford at this level. Plus across Europe with Celta Vigo, Reims, RB Salzburg,Olympics and Barcelona youth. Also linked with Swansea though

Looking at his record, he tends not to stay anywhere very long. But his win % is pretty good and I think he’ll make a good acquisition should he join the City. With so much overseas experience, he will have good contacts to join us from continental sides.

Doesn't stay long anywhere...?
Perfect for our owner, then...!

It looks like they’ve def approached him and Dalman likes him.
But my worry is he does not stay long at clubs and been unemployed for quite a while.

I agree he doesn't seem stay long but as far as his latest period of unemployment is concerned i think its understandable that ha has taken a break from football following the death of his daughter. Lets hope he is now raring to go with a new club, and hopefully that is Cardiff City.

Not looking good when the manager has been in and out of jobs for 9 clubs.
This stinks of a poor manager who basically failed in the championship after 4 games.
Yes he was at watford but only for 4 matches and only won 1 drawn 2 and lost 1.
So dont hold your breath on this being any good for us, if we get him.

There have been reasons for him leaving roles including the Watford job
On 2 June 2014, García returned to Maccabi by signing a two-year contract, but left on 26 August due to ongoing war.[15] A week later he was appointed at Watford, replacing Giuseppe Sannino.[16] He was admitted to hospital with minor chest pains on 15 September, forcing him to miss the team's upcoming match with Blackpool.[17][18] These health problems eventually led to him stepping down, two weeks later

Also, pretty sure I read somewhere that he’s taken a year off to recover from the death of his daughter.

Yes and would explain what went wrong at his last club and why he has taken time off since then

As said on another thread, he allegedly has a history of falling out with owners/hierarchy so not sure he’s the right fit for our owner..
On the other hand has had a hell of a lot going on in his personal life the last few years, so if he is ready and able to now settle down at a club long term, his pedigree and early management career shows real promise.

I don't get the massive hype about him that there is from some fans. It's like they see a foreign manager linked, in this case Spanish, and they seem to think we have the next Guardiola.
He also seems to fall out with Directors which is a risk with our board.
But what you say is factually incorrect.
He managed a full season with Brighton in the Championship a few years before he went to Watford and got them in the play-offs.
He only left Watford because of health reasons.
Like others have said, he has also had serious unfortunate personal issues in recent years so a change of scenery my be good for him.
