CARDIFF CITY CHAIRMAN MEHMET DALMAN:
The Bluebirds chairman said of Erol Bulut this morning...
"We interviewed quite a few people, some really good applicants. Some of the names, it was really impressive that they even considered us.
"He sort of stuck out, really, in terms of his optimism, his vision and pure commitment. In the end, we felt he was the best choice for us. Not the easiest choice. Because I knew everyone would say, 'Who?' Because he has never been heard of here before. So fingers crossed."
On the length of his contract...
"I am not going to tell you that, it's up to him to reveal that. I'm pretty sure he will tell you in the press conference. But it's a good, solid contract, I'm quite happy with it."
Stability...
"I hope so. I certainly don't want to go through another year like last year, that wasn't pleasant. We need stability in the club. I hope he will give us this stability. He is very good at working with young football players and I am hoping he will help with our academy and bring some younger blood through.
"I hope for stability and better performance all around."
Can he sign players?
"Let's look at exactly where we are. Under FIFA rules, if we paid the money to Nantes, which we have, but it was late, then the embargo is lifted. However, under the EFL, once you go into an embargo, you have to stay there for three windows, unless there are circumstances to rectify that.
"We have appealed against that decision, because we have paid the money. The reason we didn't pay the money was because there was a delay from the Central Bank of Malaysia to send money over which was late. We are in discussions with the EFL to help us get rid of this.
"So, technically, we are not under an embargo because we can register players. We cannot, however, pay a fee, whatever we do. So we have to rely on loans and players who are free to join us."
Is that prohibitive?
"You bring players in to improve your team. Of course it would improve the team if you have the ability to buy players. We just have to be more creative.
"This is something we discuss with every manager we interviewed. So they know what they need to do."
Can you get around it buy paying the next instalment?
"NO. Because that is not the rules. Each instalment is treated differently. If we fail to pay the next instalment we will have another embargo."
When could new players arrive?
"Ask the manager. We have been holding back recruitment because we didn't want to bring players in without the manager in first. He has his own ideas and potential targets and a recruitment team which has targets and names for him to consider, so we will get on with that as quickly as possible."
What has Bulut said about last season?
"No idea. I don't think he is going to get drawn into last season. What he has said about the team is that the core team is good. Obviously we have lost three quality players, who go back to their mother clubs, we will be looking to replace them and a few more.
"He feels he can get up and running with the targets he has in mind. We will see."
What happened with Sabri Lamouchi?
"Sabri was an excellent short-term hire for us. He did the job we asked him to do and he did it well."
"I thanked him privately and I thanked him publicly. I am most grateful for that. However, the chemsitry between him and the other Cardiff hierarchy just didn't seem to click."
"I think he did a great job and if we could have kept him then I would have been supportive of that. But the owner wanted to go in a different direction and that was it. We said thank you and we move on."
