Dalman:"I sort of gave up,Single ownership,Its difficult"

10 years at Cardiff, how do you assess that period?

MEHMET DALMAN:

Probably a 5 or 6/10. This is a privately-held company with one shareholder. We have a board, in a single ownership, it’s difficult. I’ve done it before. You can only recommend and execute.

Everything else in the middle is not the board’s decision. How well have I judged myself recommending, probably more than five or six, what about executing that recommendation? Well, that last 18 months I sort of gave up. Now this is a new incentive for me. I have a consistent team here and Ken and I work very well, within the remit of our owner. I am re-engaging myself because this man (Erol) is here.

How many season tickets have been sold?

Currently we are at 11 or 12,000. It’s pretty good. With Erol’s announcement we expect an uplift. I would hope for 14,000.

Ken Choo

I reckon we will sell 18,000. I think we have a few more announcements that will make the fans happy.

Annis, is it just me or does he continue to make little digs towards Tan?

YES Def Mike.

The last 3 years it’s got more and more.

Dalman the last 3 years has been lending us the money to pay the bills (9% interest) and the money he lends us the more he digs at Tan.

As I always said all the decisions were Tans, everyone despite Wez arguing against.
Dalman once again said all that today.

Feels as if Dalman is becoming more influential and is happy to be quite public with these remarks. Wonder if the owner will read it

Yes he is and as Tan has stopped putting money in a long time ago, I think Dalman is but by bit getting more involved and having a lot more say.

I personally don’t think they like each other anymore.

I think your opinion may be right as the more I read Dalman's quotes, the more this seems to be the case.

What sort of news makes Dalman think it would put 50% more onto the the current season ticket sales?

At least he was honest enough to admit he'd given up on us.
Something we all knew anyway, can hope he's turned a corner and ain't full of shit

Whatever ones view of him regarding spin etc I have always felt he is the only one of the three who has any footballing business sense. Club could do worse than have him leading a consortium to buy Tan out.

If you gave me the choice Tan or Dalman it would be Dalman.

As Tan is clueless

Sales to date are well ahead of the same period before last season. How it will end up as a figure before the season starts depends on how well the playing squad is seen to improve but this might not become obvious until player contracts (in and out) expire at the end of this month.

Look, i don't profess to know what's happening behind the scenes i don't have contacts within the club but as a lifelong fan and having run my own business i see Dalman more and more at the forefront of the team running our club. This may or may not be a good thing time will tell. The team at the helm of our beloved club have a lot to do to make up for the past few years, the manager merry go round, the whole Sala debacle the owners lack of visibility, have all driven fans from the club. So new manager and another new beginning lets all hope for the sake of all our loyal fans they get it right.

I wonder if Dalman was prepared to walk over this appointment?

Absolutely no doubt once the sala dispute is completed we will see dalman as a new owner

Re: Dalman:"I sort of gave up,Single ownership,Its difficult

I've watch Dalman closely since Warnock left us. His demeaner has been obvious to see. He had given up.

Even though he has known Tan a long time there comes a time when such relationships are tested and I feel we are at this stage with the 2 of them. Perhaps this explains his interest in Charlton. So why is he still here?

Why has he put in £30m and no I do not think its the 9% interest. Tan could quite easily pull the plug on this and we all know how difficult it is to get him to pay up. Ask Sam or Nantes that.

Adding to all this I don't think I don't think Dalman is going to screw Tan over. This is the conversation somewhere along the line they have had:

Dalman - Vincent you don't have a clue what you are doing.

Tan - Do you reckon you could do a better job?

Dalman - That's not difficult to achieve. Tell you what as you only think of money I will put up £30m but I want it secured with 9% so you can't screw me over like you are with Nantes and Hamman. I will then make the football decisions because you have made a right mess of those. Lets just say we will start again.

Tan thinks - This guy thinks I will not screw him over. He obviously does not know me that well then. However, he has a point about my football knowledge, perhaps David Marshall was not meant to score goals. Also thinking about it my finances have not been brilliant, Sala is costing me £25m when I could have paid it off for £9m.

Tan speaks - Ok, so you put up £30m then what.

Dalman - We nip Sam the Man in the bud. We reduce the budget by more so we can pay for it with loose change from our back pockets. We then bring my mate in from Europe to manage the club, he is Superman of managers and he will bring in cheap European imports to play for us. What people don't know is that all these players are Supermen as well. Next season we will run away with the title and the following season push Man C for the Premier title. That last bit might be a Bridge too Far but the following season the Premier Title will be ours and we will get all the money back you are claiming to have lost.

Tan thinks - This guy is as crazy as me.

Interesting times ahead but I’m not sure about Dalman. It’s more easy to point out the obvious failings of Tan and the puppet Choo.
I think that Dalman has been incredibly complacent over the years in spite of the obvious failings of the other two.
Let’s see what he’s really made of.
Personally, he might’ve won a few laughs at the press conference but I thought it was pathetic. He’s supposed to be professional. I wonder what Bulut was thinking listening to that?
Interesting indeed.

Great to hear that our chairman "sort of gave up".

Did he give up drawing his salary from the club?

What an appalling thing for a chairman of a multi million pound business to say to it's "customers".

I get what you're saying but I actually think this is sort of a good thing now.

I watched the whole press conference yesterday and Dalman was completely different to he's ever been.

Many times I've said he's not been telling the complete truth, but I believed everything he said yesterday.

You can tell he's excited with the work ahead. I don't think he's ever enjoyed his time at the club like he is now and will be going forward.

I actually enjoyed listening to him for the first time in a long time yesterday.

Being that we are all guessing here my two bobs worth is Tan has given licence to Dalman to run the show as he can't do worse than Tan.He may yet turn us around.I know I'm not the only one who thinks change is afoot.
