This is just the latest example of what’s happening :

Jack Leahy was highly rated by Accademy managers , Glen Williams ( media Wales ) and quite a few fans who watched him.

Sent out on loan to the Welsh League in January, released by Cardiff City in June.

How can a potential Championship player be sent to a Welsh League club, the standard is do low and the difference beyond m, then expected to make it at Championship level.

Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to confirm the signing of Jack Leahy on loan from Cardiff City for the remainder of the season 2022-23.

The 20-year-old winger arrives on the final day of the January transfer window, and will provide another attacking option for the Bluebirds in Phase Two.

To be fair to the club of all the players released in the last 25 years from the academy not many have done anything special Apart from Tom Lockyer My son played with Tom in the academy and not one person in the team or parents would have thought Tom would achieve what he has The other released from the same academy team was Wes Burns currently at Ipswich.
I am hard pressed to think of any other player that has proved the club made a wrong decision as yet .

Yes I agree, but it does not help that we send them to the Welsh League or Non League.

I believe this is the case at most clubs.

Also, the process was explained. It makes sense in principle. First loan is Welsh league/ non league. Prove capable before league 1 clubs take them the following season. Let's see if this the case with the guys who went out last year.

We'd all love to see our youngsters on loan in leagues higher but someone has to have to want them!!

Also, I'm sure as we're in Wales we have a limit on 'international' loans. Welsh league avoids using up a spot?

Need to properly evaluate young players and understand the level they should be loaned at.

Too many times we look at young players and automatically think they need just random game time anywhere. If they’re talented enough, either fight for a squad place or loan to championship, league one or two for valuable experience.

There are plenty of teenagers in multiple levels of football making their way into first team football, we need to properly judge our youth.
