Do you really think it's beneath Johnson to join the current best team in West London, one that finished in the top 10 and did the double over the Champions of Europe ?

Like I said Brentford play good football it's a bit like the Swansea situation tho it's not gonna last forever, at the end of the day it's a tin pot club. They may have finished above Fulham and Chelsea but Fulham and Chelsea are still superior clubs that most players would prefer to join. Guess most of it comes down to money these days, sure London is a great place to live if loaded. As a club Notts Forest much bigger than Brentford but like I said a West Ham playing in Europe, Villa or a Spurs kind of team would be ideal for him in my opinion, big clubs that have a chance in cup comps. I highly rate the kid.

Nothing lasts forever but unlike us for instance, Brentford's success is not built on sand. I would happily be referred to as a "tin pot" club if ours was as well run as Brentford. Look at Leeds, a massive club but a basket case nevertheless.
Every previously successful club can hark bark to achievements of the past and think of themselves as huge or a sleeping giant but it's the here and now that counts. By your reckoning any player looking to better themselves should only join clubs of a higher standing in the game. In other words, disregard the present and only focus on history.
If that were the case, there would be no point in ambitious 'lesser' clubs like Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford vying for a place at the top table because they would be unable to attract players of sufficient quality to help get them there.

Brentford finished above Chelsea but probably 99% of players would still rather sign for Chelsea.royalblue wrote:MoodyBluebird wrote:royalblue wrote:MoodyBluebird wrote:royalblue wrote:Don't get me wrong Brentford play some great football but this lad can do better in my opinion. I agree with what you are saying about the present etc...i would love Cardiff to be in Brentford's position. Brentford, Bournemouth, Brighton etc. Punch above their weight they do excellent at recruitment of players but normally then a bigger club comes and swoops in and takes. Mac Allister just now from Brighton. Callum Wilson Bournemouth to Newcastle etc... But these clubs do amazing to scout these players in the first place. As players surely they would rather run out in front of Villa park, Tottenham stadium, London stadium, St James Park instead of the little Brentford or Bournemouth grounds.

It’s a good move for Brennan IMO and I think Brentford will find ways to strengthen other positions.
