If they are good enough, they can do well.

Last season and Now:

Some of our fans and the local media keep saying they are only 18,19,20, 21,22 & 23 they are still youngsters, they need a few more years send them out lol.

If they really are good enough then they would be playing in Cardiff City’s Championship side, they go away and virtually disappear.

A good example:

After finishing 6th with the youngest team in the Championship, Sunderland have started the summer window by making 3 new signings.

Jobe Bellingham - Birmingham - 17

Nectarios Triantis - Central Coast - 20

Luis Semedo - Benfica - 19

To be fair, Jude Belligham is a generational exception and one heck of a player...

However, you are right on our youngsters generally not making the step up and IMHO you have to look at the coaching staffs...

The other side, of course, is the lack of patience from those of us in the stands; we called for the likes of Rubin Colwill, Isaak Davies and others to be 'given a chance' only to berate them for not being the finished article after a game or two...

I think it is similar amongst most clubs but the Sunderland model you mention is a good point in what can be achieved... :ayatollah:

And you're talking about some of the greatest footballers of their generation!! Not your average joe bloggs 17 year old from an academy. They were insane talents at a young age, destined for the top. It's not about the coaching, not about the set up, the facilities. We simply haven't had any players good enough.

Monty, that's five you've mentioned out of many thousands...

The chances of breaking through at such an early age are exceptional and most pkayers who do make it are blooded through...

Some examples of 'late developers' are Ian Wright, Vardy and our very own Phil Stant kalbeit he was fighting the Argies first)

Mostvwho make it are somewhere in between... :ayatollah:

if they are good enough at 21 then they are destined for better things

Earnie, Ginge, Gabs, Ledley, Gunther and of course, Rambo at 16 was always going to be in the very top-notch

Can't think of a 20/21 year old apart from Darcy Blake that went the other way.

I believe Issak Davies and Colwill will have breakout years, they may not be premier league class but hopefully championship. Both need a murder ball intensity pre-season, the new bass doesn't look the friendly type :)
