Don Murray

One for the older Blubird fans I suppose.
I'm trying to track down Don Murray who was with the club in the '60s & '70s.
I write for the Hearts fc match programme and would like to do an article on his time here at Tynecastle. His name came up when I was talking to a couple of his former teammates who would also like to get in touch with him. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

As of a few years back Don still attended games at Cardiff. You may be able to get the club to contact him.

Good luck.

Loved watching Don play for Cardiff.

A strong uncompromising centre half who scored quite a few own goals in his time!

Many thanks to everyone that replied. With your help I've managed to make contact. Don is in fine spirits and remembers his time in Scotland well and is happy to know his old teammates are waiting to get back in touch after all these years

Uncompromising is a very accurate description. He wasn’t very good at taking penalties. I remember a ECWC tie (Dynamo Dresden?) penalty shootout at Ninian in Sept 71 he ballooned one so high over the crossbar that it nearly cleared the Grange End stand.

Yes I remember that.

Worst penalty I'd seen from a City player until Kenny Miller's effort in the League Cup final which is still orbiting the sun.

I remember that, but he didn't cry about it, he just raised his head in disgust at himself and carried on.

Think you might be getting a tad confused mate as Kenny Miller's effort hit the post.

It comes with old age! :old: :old:

Perhaps I'm thinking of Miller's penalty in the semi final against Palace?
