Callum Robinson: Don't be fooled!

Cardiff striker Callum Robinson has said "don't be fooled by the smiles!" after posting a picture of himself and fellow forward Kion Etete back in pre-season training.

The Bluebirds are today starting their second week back at the pump, with new boss Erol Bulut running the rule over his players ahead of their first pre-season friendly of the summer this weekend.

Robinson posted on Instagram: "1st week complete, don’t be fooled by the smiles @kionetete."

Supporters will be keen to see Robinson back in action for the Bluebirds next season after he missed the relegation run-in through injury.

Cardiff face Penybont FC at Cardiff City Stadium (3pm) on Saturday.

Surely the players need to be playing better opposition other than Penybont or new saints over the next week odd. Baffles my why we always play much much lower teams. Although we should be hammering such teams. People say its about fitness to disguse the fact we playing such teams but if that's the case play 11 vs 11 for fitness within the club for 90mins.

The year Warnock took us up we played opposition of a lower standard than Penybont and TNS down in Devon Did not fo us any harm then

Of course it's about fitness. Most clubs haven't even returned for preseason yet!

And about confidence. In the manager, his system, him in the players, etc.

We're lucky these clubs will basically act as canon fodder for us on our beck and call. And you're right, we should be battering them.

Also Penybont and TNS, will be using City as a warm up for their up coming European games . So they really will be up for it .

TNS are all full time professionals and would probably hold their own in the National League or even League 2. They are the only full time outfit in the Cymru Premier which is why they usually win it.

Also some of these Welsh League clubs can ask to use some of our U21's to go on loan to them ....

I'm not saying it won't do us any harm. This ain't a tour like Devon under warnock this is much much lower leagues clubs coming to our ground which to me does not reflect us even playing at home. We should have bumper crowds vs a higher league opponents in my opinion then go play the lower league tier teams on a tour. :bluescarf:

The issue with higher league team Eg Premier league team they charge hell of a lot to turn up to play a preseason friendly Most will be playing in some lucrative pre season tournaments . The two seasons we went up our opponents were mainly lower leagues . We will play one half decent team and also have our trip to Portugal. Pre-season is all about fitness levels and formations/style of play I really don’t have any issue with what we are doing

As mention year we went up we played Tavistock and Bodmin Town in tour of Devon who are both a much lower standard than TNS and Bodmin In fact one of the Tavistock player played with my son at Exeter University and was in the 2nds at Exeter University The standard was really was very low We also played Taffs Well.
