Rubin Colwill aged 21:
A mercurial talent who has flitted between excellence and anonymity since bursting onto the scene two years ago, Colwill really needs to kick on this season if he is to live up to great expectations.
The young playmaker's natural ability cannot be questioned but he has struggled with injuries, starting just four Championship matches last season and spending just 25 per cent of the time on the pitch since making his debut back in February 2021.
While still only 20, Colwill needs to get serious game-time under his belt to boost his confidence - with his demotion from Rob Page's Wales squad to the under-21s this summer, already having a similarly restorative effect.
He knows it too - and wants it - having previously spoken about playing a key role in helping Cardiff push for the play-offs under Bulut.
"I just want to stay fit and play as much as I can," he said. "We've definitely got the potential to be pushing for the play-offs. That's where we need to aim, really. That would be my goal for the team and for myself."

Hopefully the manager can get a bit of extra pace out of him
as he has looked slower the taller he has got

Monty, I don't think he can find pace, i just think he needs to learn to use his size, he is a unit in a game for low centre of gravity midgets
Not saying he is anywhere near Zlatan but he was never quick just used his frame well. We also need to drop the midfielder tag, he is a forward

He's had plenty of opportunities and not become a regular member of the first team matchday squad. I don't see that changing.
Although I don't think all of our recent managers apart from Lamouchi have been proper managers like we have now, none of them have seen Colwill as a regular starter.
He has shown flashes of quality but not anywhere near consistently. He has also had a bad injury record recently.
I honestly think it's time for him to move on to another club. He may do well somewhere else, but I don't think that he'll do well with us.

I know i maybe in the minority here, but given his size, growing strength, great touch and good finishing, i think his future is as a number 9.
He isnt going to track back to defence, hasnt got the pace to be a box to box player or move out wide... So he either specialises as a no. 10 in the middle, where he will need some solid support behind him, or he moves a little further forward.
Players changing and adapting to new positions should be encouraged... Look at Trent Alexander-Arnold at LFC..
From a flakey right-back to a brilliantly creative midfielder.
I think it's worth a try in pre season games with Colwill by playing him up front.

I think the flashes you talk about are enough to show managers and coaches that there is a tremendous player in there who just needs some consistency and proper management.
If he 'may do well somewhere else' and we let him go, what does that say about us? That we can't help young players?
He would have had the same growing issues and injuries elsewhere
We have to stick with him and work with him on his consistency and hopefully his growth spurts are behind him so he can stay injury free.
There's a £10million (at least) playing in there... We have to help realise that potential at city
