The Cymru Premier

Tue Jun 27, 2023 3:00 pm

Why are we insisting on sending our academy players to The Cymru Premier league to play for teams like the dog and duck. It’s an awful standard and hasn’t improved since it’s inception. If they need game time send them to the National League or the National League north or south as all 3 leagues are a far higher standard than what we have in Wales.

Wonder how much is it to do with this ridiculous International Clearance? Is there perhaps a quota to be adhered to?

Why stop at National League? If they need a game why not send them to Man City? Surely they'll improve then?

Totally agree. Somebody name me the last time a supposed younster acutally made the starting team weekly consistently played last. Let alone after playing in the welsh leagues. In my opinion many of them wouldn't cut it at conference level or below that otherwise they would be there already playing the man's game.

We always hear of how good these "younsters" but they end up on the scrap heap sadly. So that tells me there not good enough in most cases.

Rhys Healy came from Haverfordwest and isn’t doing too badly now, Ben Cabango at Swansea had a season on loan there and has done well since,

Rhys Healey Career:

Let’s see how he performs in The Championship?

Plus can you name any player that City sent on loan to the Welsh League that then went on to make it in the Championship???

Can add Tom Bradshaw to the list and to a lesser extent Christian Doidge. Newport have signed a couple of players lately too - who’ve been regular starters in league 2. Liverpool had a young forward on loan at Caernarfon last year too, who then went on loan to Halifax in the national league.

It’s like any other league, if you’re good enough you’ll go on to bigger and better things, if you aren’t then you won’t.

Don’t think it’s anything to do with the league itself why the players don’t make it in to the city first team, clearly the players ain’t good enough, my point is that some clubs like Swansea have sent young players to that league and it’s helped with the development, and other players have been bought from the league and have had success at a higher level, what would be better for the bigger welsh clubs us if we had a b team in the leagues

But We have not been successful even once??

In fact our players then go off to join low non League clubs.
