Smug cheating Aussies. The crowds at Headingley, Old Trafford & The Oval will be all over the buggers.

Equivalent to mankad. Keeper rolled the ball at the stumps after Bairstow left a ball and walked out of his crease.

I’ve just watched it. I’m not much of a cricket fan. I grew up playing rugby and football.
Maybe I’m being naive. But I was always told to play the whistle. So in the absence of a metaphorical cricket whistle I’d say bairstow should have held his ground and not walked off. Schoolboy error?

Cheating - no.
Against the spirit of the game - without doubt

Its funny how we get called cheats..... when all the poms do i whinge when things dont go their way

Carey was well within his right to throw the ball at the stumps as bairstow had left the crease early several times in that over. Carey had actually thrown the ball before bairstow had left his crease... so the ball wasnt dead. Moral of the story, stay in your crease until the ball has been thrown away from the stumps........

The distgusting act was the behaviour of the lords members against the aussie team.... Verbal abuse of people is uncalled for

Just sour that us aussies are 2-0 up when you thought you'd be 2-0 up :P

So basically like I said. Play the whistle. I’m not sure why people are moaning.
That said. I don’t give a stuff about cricket!

Spot On - Another way is when a bowler comes in to bowl /stops and takes the bails off at the non strikers end ...
With that batsman out of his crease ( might get a warning ) but another method of getting out :(

If the Umpires started moving then the over is done. They should call the over prior in this case. Aussies were the better side and deserved to win.

Have you protested regarding verbal abuse of English players and fans at the WACA and GABA?
If not, shut thy fuckin trap.

I dont agree to any abuse towards players regarless of who or where they are

Are you referring to specific incidents because the WACA is my local ground and i dont remember members (or fans) acting like the lords members did today (last night for me)

But that batsman would be out trying to get an advantage whereas Bairstow was simply walking down to talk to the other batsman. I really would love one of the England bowlers to take the bails off and run one of the bastards out. They deserve it after what they did.

It was sloppy from Bairstow. A little glance behind him would have shown him that Carey didn't consider it to be the end of the over.
Bairstow tried it earlier in the Test when he was keeping, so he should have been alert to the possibility of it happening to him.

The cricket equivalent of an own goal,he got himself out.We take our lumps and move on.

Re: Off Topic: The Ashes and Cheating Aussies

Was it out? According to the laws yes it was

But all this nonsense could have been avoided if Carey had just warned Bairstow earlier that’s what you do in cricket but he chose not too…that’s undoubtedly against the spirit of the game

As for Warner getting abused by the members no it shouldn’t have happened absolutely not but Warner is a dick whose got up to all sorts of shenanigans in the past so I have no sympathy for him

Going to make the last 3 matches interesting though!!

Spirit of the game or not - this shows the difference in ruthlessness to win. For me, it adds to the spectacle and makes me want to tune in for the rest of the series.

If the Aussies do win the Ashes, the history books will say just that.

England need to fight fire with fire and use it as fuel to win the next 3

Good
I always want England to lose no matter what the sport.
And before someone pipes up “it’s English and Welsh cricket board” No Wales is ever mention even when there’s a Welsh player in the team.

If Broad's repost is anything to go by then the rest of the series should be interesting!

Agree would like to see one of the England bowlers do that - the point I was making is there are a few ways to get out .
Bairstow should know better after all he is a wicket keeper and his dad was a good cricketer ( WK ) and footballer .

It's all down to etiquette and good sportsmanship. Compare it to a match (football) where a team puts the ball out of play because of injury. The opposing team from the throw in usually give the ball back to the opposition. In this case though they passed the ball to the goalie but he was off his line and it went in the goal. So the ref had to give the goal. The team who just scored then let the opposition score from the kick off. That is sportsmanship. Something which the current Aussie cricket team don't have.

Many over decades.. Jim Maxwell(fair guy) testifies to that.
CA complaining compounds the Aussie one eye.. bit like the frothing Gypo down the road.

I can’t understand how so many are onboard with wales being a part of England for cricket purposes. Scotland beat West Indies a few days ago. Ireland played England just a few weeks ago. I’d love to make a movement towards this but fear I won’t garner support for change..

I’d say it’s more naivety on Englands behalf. This is the Ashes, you need that big game grit, England haven’t got it. Aussies not even having to work hard to win

Probably because if we went on our own we'd have a really shite team. Plus Sophia Gardens could no longer host any England games and probably Glamorgan would have to leave the English setup.

I agree with all your points but I’d be up for that.
I’d prefer to watch Wales play Scotland/Ireland/Oman/Yemen/Netherlands and so on competing at our own level, promoting the sport and the opportunity to play for your country. We have no desire to change the current situation and most would rather hear England fans sing Jerusalem than put a hand up. It’s a shame.

The english press must not be showing all the times the english team (and the current coach) havent played under the 'Sportsmanship' banner......

Bairstow even tried to 'Stump' Labuschange on Day 3.....

This has ended up being a big storm in a teacup..... By the letter of the law he was out. it went to the third umpire who agreed that it was out...... Move on time :)
