Cardiff City continue their pre-season games on Friday with a behind closed doors game against Cambridge United.

Below are a few details on our opponents.




Last season, Cambridge finished 20th in League One and narrowly avoided relegation. It was their second successive season in the third tier after being promoted from League Two in 2021.

They play their home games at the Abbey Stadium, where they have been since 1932. Last year they bought the stadium, after only being tenants for the last 20 years.

Their current manager is Mark Bonner. It is his first job in management and he's been successful there. In his first full season as manager, he guided them to promotion from League Two. In their two seasons since promotion, he has successfully kept them in League One.

Following wins over Penybont and TNS at the CCS this week the bluebirds are back in action tomorrow against League One opposition Cambridge United in a behind closed doors friendly.



The 23/24 season will be Cambridge’s third consecutive season in the third tier following promotion from League Two in the 2020/21 season. The U’s narrowly avoided the drop last season surviving on the final day after beating Forest Green Rovers at home whilst both Morecambe and MK Dons failed to win. Last season was a struggle for The U’s finding themselves in relegation trouble for most of the season but a late run in the final weeks of the season was enough to just about keep Cambridge up for another year

Etete picked up a knock early in the game but is carrying on.
