Not excited by this sorry.

Scores one in four on average, score 4 in 27 last year! That is mark Harris territory.

Had a poorer season last season as the season before he done his acl

The 3 seasons before that he scored over 10 goals each season.

Great signing for a free signing!

I agree. Poor season last season - as his club did. Good signing. Seems we’ll have a couple of powerful strikers.

Hes not been great the last couple of seasons but neither have Reading. Maybe a fresh start is what he is needs, definitely a proven Championship striker and good signing for a free.

Not the best goalscoring record the last two seasons but, as said above, he's been playing for a struggling Reading team.

Did well before the last couple of seasons when he had a bad injury.

He'll want to prove he's still good enough for the Championship and he has a decent amount of pace.

Decent signing I think.

What people need to remember is that not every new signing will be someone who will be starting regularly.

The new manager's system is 4-2-3-1. So that only leaves one starting place for a striker. We will have Ugbo, Etete and Meite already. Robinson can also play as a striker.

So is Meite an upgrade on Mark Harris? 100%.

I welcome him to the club if it goes through :bluebird:

Good signing if true. Prefer him over etete in my opinion . Get this over the line and concentrate on a winger . Nice to see bulut identifying what we need and getting it done early for a full pre season

He’s a striker / winger too and most YouTube clips show him wide right. Not a bad return if he was playing wide.

Spot on. Let’s be honest here, Mark Harris has already left and you’d have to imagine Max Watters will before the season starts. Last season they contributed a combined total of three goals during the season… Meite, in a bad season and playing less games, scored more than them combined, granted only one more mind .

Not sure what to think about this one.

Good record years ago in the championship, however the injury played a part in his poor season and there is nothing to suggest that his form has returned

We are looking at Free agents and this is a player who has played in the Championship to add to the squad .

We have already signed more strikers now than this time last year - Remember ;)

Cardiff City are close to signing former Reading striker Yakou Meite.

He is a free agent after turning down a new deal at the Royals following their relegation from the Championship.

The 27-year-old Ivory Coast forward confirmed last month he would leave Reading after scoring 47 goals in 165 appearances since joining in 2016.

The Bluebirds are understood to be confident of completing the capture of Meite, who would become manager Erol Bulut's third signing of the summer.

Cardiff - who cannot pay transfer fees for players because of an EFL embargo - completed moves for Canada striker Ike Ugbo and Greece centre-back Dimitrios Goutas earlier this week.

He is/was a very good powerful striker at this level before a nasty injury.. Much better striker than what we have available.. A few players maybe going out on loan. Etete does not score enough goals, he may well be leaving soon. He should be worried.

He’s a young lad who will now hopefully have better people around the front line this season!

We are going to need at least 5 strikers if we are even to contemplate a top 6 finish.

Give the lad some credit and try to keep the faith ( I know it’s hard for you). Oh and by the way I don’t think he will be going out on loan either, where did you get that from?

Maybe we should send you out on loan to figure things out!!!!

A really decent forward at this level.

I know he hasn't had the best goalscoring record for the last two seasons - partly due to reading being poor, coming back from an ACL and also often played a little further out wide as Shane long, Andy Carroll, Lucas João and Tom Ince all taking up the main striker role at various times of the season.

If we are expecting him to score 20+ goals a season then that isn't going to happen - we will likely play him in any one of three attacking positions. Some Reading fans say he is more effective on the right and coming inside.

He is an exciting player and certainly adds to our squad.

Just read this Reading assessment Meite, but more interestingly on Stats.
Some research gone into that article, fair play..

Be interesting to see one for Cardiff forwards....

I will certainly back Meite and think that he is going to be better then Harris, Watters and Wickham in my opinion.

However reading the above it does put a slight worry about how much time he is sidelined due to injury. We dont want another Vassell on our hands
