Possible XI as it Stands

Thu Jul 13, 2023 11:49 am

Which 11 do we think is best as it stands?

It’s interesting with the current crop, additions like Ugbo, possibilities of Ejuke etc.

Competition for places looks better already.

Strangely I've just watched a you tube video which puts us as third favorites to go down. Looking at that team and in my opinion adding colwill to replace Ramsey on 60 mins (or the other way round) can't see us finishing below mid table.

If we can add a quality box to box midfielder, we have a great XI right there

Goalie and the defensive midfielders worry me.

Box to box midfielder - I thought that was what Ebou Adams was brought in to be?

We've yet to really see Adams. My only concern is that area of the park. Felt like we failed to dominate many games in that area last season

Agree, those are the positions that need strengthening.

Would also argue that Robinson's best position isn't as a striker. He is better out wide or in the ten role. Those positions are where we have a lot of quality and plenty of competition now.

That’s what’s interesting about the team above, could see Robinson on the right, left or benched.

Plenty of ways Bulut can attack teams.

We need a proven goalscorer

You don’t necessarily need a ‘proven goalscorer’ to get out of this league. Don’t get me wrong, it definitely helps What we need a new first choice goalkeeper. I really don’t rate Allsop. There are much better keepers in the lower French, German and Italian leagues. Hopefully Erol has already rubber stamped that our keepers aren’t up to scratch.

Add another striker, a commanding CM, a winger who can take on a full back and cross, a CB and maybe a LB.
What’s for sure is Ramsey won’t be up to playing 46 games so we’ll need a decent 10 as well.
Lots to go out the door, either sold or loaned.

Almost every single club needs a proven goalscorer and we can't spend any money.

We may get a decent striker on loan if we're lucky but very difficult to find the right player, especially with our transfer restrictions.

Need to be realistic.

I don't think we need to sign another number ten. Ramsey will obviously be the first choice for most games but we also have Robinson who can play there and the manager has said he sees Rubin Colwill as a number ten.

I've been critical of Colwill in the past but he is having a very good pre-season and the manager is impressed with how he's doing. I think Bulut could be the right manager for Colwill.

If we dont sign a goal scorer we probably need someone who can just hold the ball up and take some knocks if we need to change focus with tactics.

Could use another CB I think.

Be interesting to see who Balut wants to bring in and then ship out.

Considering how down we all were, even after surviving, there's a new feeling of optimism

Agree on the keepers. We've been spoilt for years and unfortunately the current 2 are below the standards we've become used to.

There's a photo of RC on this forum somewhere and he looks around half a stone lighter than the end of the season.

Striker
possibly a winger
CDM
left back
keeper

With a decent set of those added, there is real promotion potential.

Watching last season and the pre-season games, a lot of our current squad are ok, but just ok..... :bluebird:

Another CB would be welcome. Upgrade over McGuinness.

Biggest worry is one CB gets injured and our back up options are not great.
