We were playing Southend United in a regular basics.

Southend United FC:

For those of you that care, this is Roots Hall, home of Southend Utd.

We are two weeks away from a home friendly (if it gets played, we’ve already had to cancel two as we can’t raise a team) and three weeks away from the season starting (If we last that long)

There has not been much publicity about this winding up order. I first saw it earlier this week. But thankfully they have been given 42 days to sort the problem out.

Here is the club statement:

https://www.southendunited.co.uk/news/2023/july/club-statement/

The statement talks about the problems associated with selling the club but, in fairness to the HMRC, it is not up to future owners to pay the tax due - that should be paid by the present owner and therefore why has he not paid it?

The National League is now littered with ex-football league clubs that City used to play regularly. There are some great, loyal fans of these teams and I really hope that Southend don't become yet another club that needs start again. Makes you appreciate how good it is to be in the Championship and talking about the likes of Ramsey joining us.
