Cardiff City Goalkeepers

Sat Jul 15, 2023 12:20 pm

Whilst not wishing to sound negative, I don't think we have any Championship standard goalkeepers at the club. This cost us several goals last season and is a major weakness in our squad. Are efforts being made to sign at least 1 decent keeper?

I would keep alwick and sell or loan out allsopp because he is a nightmare

I think it’s bit of a coincidence when we let Andy Dibble go as a goal keeping coach. I think he played a big part of goal keeping development and scouting keepers through the league as well.

We were looking at 3 goalkeepers to be first choice, not sure if this is still the case

Rog, a keeper will be coming and besides Turner another keeper will go out on loan.

For a tall bloke, Allsop has no presence in the area. That must surely be a confidence thing. I can’t see that changing so probably best to get rid if we’re lining up something better.

I'd agree with the above Alwick is ok as a back up.

All of the teams in the top half this season will have a consistent & reliable number 1.

We need a better goalkeeper than what we have.
They are both poor at stopping shots from outside box.
Our goalies are like Dracula frightened of crosses.

More than happy with the 5 new players we have got in to date - But a new keeper has to be added to this squad .

We are doing such a great job with frees and loans so I wouldn’t bet against us unearthing a gem somewhere.

Not for me, terrible with the ball at his feet and always aims for route one and we lose possession.

I beg to differ, he’s way better than what we currently have and he’s available and most important can handle the Championship.

Hennessy has always been a backup, for a reason. I’m sure Bulut would like a GK who is comfortable with his feet. Hennessy for Wales kept giving the ball away, just tells the team to go up the field and hoof it.

If we get Danny Ward in that at least means my young lad can sing the Danny Ward song! (courtesy of Boney M I think) ;-)

Thought it was a shame we let Smithies go - think he's better than the two current incumbents
