Stand swap for atmosphere

Mon Jul 17, 2023 7:10 am

We just need to swap the family stand with the canton now and this season will just be amazing...one can dream for an amazing atmosphere

This has been raised numerous times on here in the past and a clear explanation given as to why it shouldn`t and won`t happen.

Yeah it’s never happening. We need to move on and create an atmosphere with the set up we’ve got.

I can't ever see that happening; placing our biggest vocal supporters alongside the away-end.
It could be asking for trouble in certain matches.
A winning team will create a much better atmosphere than we have experienced in recent seasons.

What is the reason why this would never happen

Never going to happen , if you want to be next to the away fans then buy a ticket in the ninian in 117/8 where I sit .

Or maybe instead of spending the match staring at away fans and exchanging abuse time would be better spent watching the match and giving loud support to the team?

The club have been asked many times and state it’s for safety reasons blah blah blah. Fighting a losing battle.

The small minority spoiling it for the rest of us. It will be seen as the club actively enticing a volatile atmosphere and potential flashpoint.

I used to be in favour of this but the more I've thought about it, I don't think it would be a good idea.

For certain games such as against Swansea, Bristol City, Leeds etc it would just be asking for trouble. It would also mean more money would have to be spent on stewarding and things like that. I also would expect that South Wales Police would advise against it.

As soon as it was decided when the new stadium was built, that the current layout would be the layout then it was always never likely to change.

As others have said, you can be by the away fans by sitting in the Ninian Stand. While the "standing area" of the stadium will always be where it is now.

I don't buy the argument some have that it's impossible to have a good atmosphere at CCS in the current layout. Because in our promotion seasons there has been consistently a good atmosphere, with a positive crowd supporting the team.

I expect that will be the case again for QPR in a few weeks.

Away fans need to be moved away from the family stand, it’s not fair on young kids being abused by drunken asshats every home game….

There is easily a big enough gap between them plus where else could they go?

The odd occassion when coins etyc are thrown to and fro certainly don't help the cause. Admitedly it seems to be away fans.

I best win the euro millions then because that's what I'm doing when I buy the club lol

I somewhat understand the club's reasoning for not allowing this sort of move due to policing/stewarding reasons.

However, clubs up and down the UK do this very often to improve atmosphere.

In our league alone; Leeds, Middlesbrough, Coventry, Leicester, Huddersfield, Hull, Millwall, Norwich, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea, West Brom etc ALL have better atmospheres than us due to their singing section placements next to the away fans. Do they have trouble on a weekly basis? I don't think so.

Even with the added benefits of a better atmosphere, surely moving the FAMILY stand away from a few abusive away fans can only be a good thing?

Bang on we need to swap it could you imagine the buzz I'm sick of hearing away fans slag our club for being so quiet etc even with the canton in full voice it's not so loud down the other side

There used to an atmosphere created by vocal fans in Ninian 117/118, but they got told to sit down and shut up or move to another part of the ground. I don’t even think they sell season tickets there anymore.

Yep, I used to be within that, forced to move to Canton or risk being banned. Sad that it came to that.

I agree I'd even be happy to pay a bit more if that was what it would take to have extra policing or whatever for it to happen !
