Any of the oldies remember us playing Porto in 1968? We had reached the semi final the previous season and were a bit surprised we got beaten. I think the police attacked the Cardiff side coming off the pitch. Bob Wilson had to have stiches in his head.Any one remember that or did i dream it? I was only a young kid.
We drew in Cardiff and so got knocked out in the first round.

Agreed, the ECWC games were probably the highlight of my youth too. I think my first Euro game was the defeat by Standard Liege in the 1965-66 tournament.
When I first saw the scores in the games against Porto, I thought they were wrong as I remember us drawing 2-2 away and losing 0-1 at home. When I checked, I realised I was getting mixed up with the Real Zaragoza games. And yes I think you are right about us playing in red against Porto, who played in broad blue and white vertical stripes if my memory serves me right.

I thought they played in red when i posted the op but wasn't 100 % sure if it was against someone else. If it was Porto, I remember many people booing them when they came out. Took a while to figure out it was our own side we were booing.

I remember that game booed city as they came out until we realised they were in red. If my think is correct in those days in europe if both sides colours were similar the home side changed.

I think we were a bit spoilt in those days and as a kid I suppose I didn't really appreciate what I was experiencing. As well as the Porto game, in just three years I saw us cruelly beaten 3-2 with the last kick of the game in the semi finals against Hamburg, beat Real Madrid at Ninian, thrash FC Nantes 5-1, and the Norwegian cup winners 5-1 ( won 7-1 away! which i think at the time was a record away win by a British side), beat the Dutch cup winners Breda 4-1, Moscow Torpedo 1-0 and PO Larnaca from Cyprus 8-0. It was a wonderful time, unfortunately never to be repeated.

A few years after the 1967-68 ECW Cup tournament I went looking for some programmes to buy in the Bluebirds shop and came across the programme for the away game at NAC Breda that I still have to this day.
