Cardiff City splashed a club record £11m on the flop Josh Murphy from Norwich in 2018 at the same time England international James Maddison departed Norfolk for Leicester.
Injury-prone Murphy on around £30k per week, nose-dived at Cardiff managing only 10 league goals in 50 starts over four years.
He was given to Oxford United for nothing where his value at now 28 has dipped to £700,000 - the player depreciating in value a eye-watering £10,200,000 in less than five years.
Murphy now lines up with other Bluebirds discards Cian Brown and Mark Harris for the U's having splutted only 10 League starts, no goals.
Oxford is a Seat of Learning in England, but is a League One graveyard for Cardiff soccer careers - beware Isaak Davies, 22, the latest blunt Bluebird forward who is now considering a loan spell there.

He was a terrible buy and its understandable why Tan said he was conned.
But its not the only bad buy we have had over the seasons since getting to the Premier. This is why we find ourselves where we are because of these s**t buys.

This a sad post in my opinion as Murphy had some great games for us in the premiership and looked liked he was a s good as his twin in newcastle.
At the time he signed and seeing what he could do the first few months 11 million seemed fair but then I seen him when there was a few young bluebirds trying to get autographs his attitude was all wrong he was an arrogant prick.
Sadly this spilled on the pitch he turned totally shit this is not because he is no good it his attitude as sometimes he scored some nice goals for us and played some good games but we got relegated and he just thought the world owed him something.
The boy had some skill and could find the net but all of a sudden his head was bigger that his skill and his attitude was all wrong shame as he could have been a top player for us.
look in the mirror Josh you are to blame for your demise no one else

He was excellent for Norwich from what I saw and I was delighted when we signed him. But for whatever reason it didn’t work out for him, however I don’t put this one on warnock.

I do as there were a few skillful players here who imo had their confidence wrecked by warnocks hoofball !! Think is why BDR couldn't wait to get from here and look at him now.

When he signed I went on Norwich forum they couldn't believe they were getting 11 million. Lots of them offered to drive him down that night. Not as good as his brother and has 1 good game in 10. Let's be truthful here no championship player is worth 11million.

There is a player in Murphy, but I gave up on him long before he left. Massive waste of talent and major disappointment.

Totally agree.
Tomlin for me was one of our worst ever waste of talent and arrogant.
