EROL BULUT:
“If we had scored one of our chances in the first-half the result would be very different.”
"You could see in the first 45 minutes, you wouldn't say we played against Porto. I didn't see any difference between them and my team in terms of us creating a lot of chances," Bulut said.
"But we killed ourselves in the first half, it was painful. In the second half we had a chance with Rambo (Aaron Ramsey) but then they got the penalty. After 3-0 the morale of the players came down. They tried but we played against a team who is in the top 10 in Europe.
"The first half I was really glad how we played, how we created and how we managed the ball in defence. Small details, individual mistakes, but we still have two more friendly matches."
"How we managed it today, and against Braga, these chances against two big teams, starting like that today, I think we will have a good season."
Aaron Ramsey made his third debut for the club, of course, when he came on at half time - and almost scored with one of his first touches. He picked out a lovely through-ball for Grant, who returned the favour for him but Ramsey's low shot clattered into the post.
It would have been some moment, but it was at the very least more evidence, not that it was needed, of the real quality Ramsey can bring to this City side.
"He was not long away from the game," Bulut said of Ramsey. "The last game he played three and a half weeks ago against Turkey. He played two games and then had three weeks off, so he's not lost any conditioning.
The one criticism of Cardiff is that they were not clinical enough in the final moments. The final pass or shot was just not good enough and it's something they struggled with last season.
"This makes the difference between the top level and lower," Bulut said of City's end product. "They manage it from the first chance, which they scored, but before their first goal we already had four chances to score.
"If we scored one of our chances in the first half, the result would be very different.“
