Why do our women's team along with Wrexham and Swansea play in yhe Welsh League?

I am aware of the history surrounding Cardiff Ladies severing liNks with CCFC we then set up another team, but why was the decision made to go into the Welsh League?

The women team were already in the welsh pyramid system when they joined the city. the ladies side were in the English league when they fell out with the city

Cardiff City F.C. (women)

Cardiff City FC Women is a women's football team based in Cardiff, Wales. It is the official Women's side of Cardiff City F.C.

The club won the Women's Welsh Premier League in 2012–13,[2] which qualified them for the 2013–14 UEFA Women's Champions League. The team started in the qualifying round and lost all of its three matches.

History

Until the 2011–12 season the team played in the South Wales Women's League Division 1, where also the Southern Premier League teams played too.[3] The team only entered the Premier League when the league was expanded for 2012–13 and went truly national. In its first Premier League season the team won the title on goal difference after beating Wrexham Ladies 5–2.[4]

I see Cardiff City Women's team lost to Portsmouth today 3-1 and 4-1 in two 60 minute games.

Portsmouth are in the National Southern League along with Cardiff Ladies. It is the 3rd tier of English football. Equivalent of League One

Just trying to get a feel for the quality of both teams. Seems the Welsh women's League is of a similar quality to League two or National League perhaps. Same as the Men's Welsh League?

I’ve alluded to tube before. But My fear for the women’s teams - and indeed the jacks and Wrexham. Is that we are rightly investing in them. Making them semi pro. But all we are doing is potentially developing the players to move over to where the real money is. That will have a negative affect on us and also will be negative for the national side as the top players will all migrate away from local sides with no high end competition to develop in to in wales.

I think either the women’s teams need a funnel up to a British league or we need to build the team up in strength and find a way to enter a side in the English pyramid.

It would be nice if we could have more promotions for all out other sides too. Maybe our season tickets could give us access to women’s and u23 matches. Or have them playing curtain raisers.
