Just watched yesterday’s highlights

Sun Jul 30, 2023 7:57 pm

We seemed very much faster in thought as well as our general play for large parts of the game. This wasn’t always evident from our view from behind the goals.
Hopefully we’ll catch Leeds on Sunday.
Tbf, Ojo did pretty well snd there’s going to be loads of willing runners around Ramsey.

We only have one player that can beat their man and that’s O’Dowda. We always struggle to create chances without him as an attacking player. He did work with Grant but we lose the full impact of O’Dowda.
Can’t Grant play No9 and push O’Dowda forward?

I do think O'Dowda is wasted at left back, but disagree with you about beating players... Ojo has had a decent preseason and beaten his man on a number of occasions to fire a shot or cross and Grant has been beating men repeatedly, Robinson also moves quickly past his man. However, the final ball is often missing and we lack someone to finish off the moves - unless fixed this will be our downfall this season.

I’m still trying to work out whether it’s the lack of positional sense of the striker (s) or the quality of ball in or the face we are looking constantly for the ‘perfect’ ball or a mixture of them all.
I know that when Etete came on we certainly seemed to get the ‘percentage ‘ balls into the box.

We just need to tweak it and get the percentage balls into the net. Bulut is working on it. We could try word association like ball/goal foot goal head/goal shoot/goal with picture cards. Maybe some subliminal info. I also heard of playing a tape while you sleep. If none of that works give the players larger boots. Joking aside I am sure we will be fine.

Defo agree with you both!

Collins must be really off the pace to not be getting in defence ahead of O'Dowda, he's an attacking player.

I paid to watch the whole match - with my wife, would you believe - and I thought that we weren't quite the finished article. We are almost there, but not quite. Against Leeds it may be different because of the extra effort and focus players provide in a competitive match against a team who are big, big rivals. Or - they could freeze defensively as they did at times against Wycombe. None of us really knows how we will fare against Leeds. I think we will do well but I'm worried about our lack of goals in pre-season. Anyway - looking forwards to this season.
