Cardiff City Manager Bulut: “Two years ago Josh Bowler”

Tue Aug 01, 2023 4:22 pm

Cardiff City manager Erol Bulut :

“Two years ago, Josh was one of the best wingers in the Championship. We’re excited he’s here. He’s a good worker, with a great left-foot, who will bring goals and assists to our side.

“We now have a variety of possibilities across our front line. They will all bring something different and offer us more creativity this season.”

Bowler is City's sixth signing for the First Team this summer, joining Iké Ugbo, Dimitrios Goutas, Yakou Méïté, Karlan Grant and Aaron Ramsey at CCS! Welcome to South Wales, Josh!

On his day he's brilliant and can get us off our seats, things are improving, a few more, and things will look a lot different.

Good player but with all due respect Erol he is not the goal scorer we need.

FFS there's a month of the window left and he's said he wants a striker

So we don't score a goal for a month. What a start to the season.

Fact is the best strikers we can get (as we can't pay any fees) won't be available until the last couple of weeks the window.

That will likely be a loan from a Premier League club or a loan from a Championship club.

I also disagree that "we won't score a goal for a month" because we have players who have a record of scoring goals in this league. Although we do need a striker for the long term over the season - as Bulut has said.

I'm certainly not going to look ahead to the season based on the glorified training sessions that are pre-season friendlies.

Well said, Ned... :ayatollah:

Not sure this poster is a 'newbie'; more someone who wants to have the 'in' name but deliver the same old diatribe, as a quick trawl of his posts to date will show... ;)

Although I totally agree with Worcester's response, I really don't think it's necessary for you to trawl through Ramsey's previous submissions to gauge what kind of a poster he is. His viewpoints should at least be respected, whether you agree with them or not.

Do a bit if research, we won the league in 2013 with a top scorer that amassed 9 goals.

Indeed far better to concentrate on the substance of the post than the usual cheap shots at the poster himself who has a valid opinion whether any one else agree s with it or not. Don't know why posting that would lead anyone to believe you were trying to make a name for yourself. It's certainly a valid point not the same old diatribe!
In fact the only decent striker we had last season was Robinson who missed the first 8 games. This season business has been done earlier but nevertheless the longer we leave the signing of the centre forward inevitably the harder the team will find it. I don't see anything wrong with that opinion as if it's a good thing to leave it as late as possible!

I've fully answered that question in my reply. It's just common sense.

The boss on Josh:

“We’re excited he’s here. He’s a good worker, with a great left-foot, who will bring goals and assists to our side.

“We now have a variety of possibilities. They will all bring something different and offer us more creativity this season.”

Bowler has spent time on loan at Greek giants Olympiacos since joining Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal last summer but has struggled to rediscover the type of form which saw him recognised as one of the Championship’s hottest prospects during his time at Bloomfield Road.

Twenty-four-year-old Bowler arrives at the Cardiff City Stadium on a season-long loan from Forest and could feature at Elland Road this weekend as Erol Bulut’s side take on Leeds.

“I’ve played in the Championship quite a lot,” Bowler said on arriving in South Wales. “This season for me is about getting minutes and showing everyone at Cardiff City what I can do and hopefully taking them to the promised land. With the squad we have and with the additions we’ve made, that’s what we have to aim for.”

A decent striker as you call it doesn't grow on trees as anyone with an ounce of football knowledge will know. The most difficult position to fill on the park and we are even further hamstrung by the fact that we are under an embargo. Our best chance would be getting Kieffer Moore back but these deals take time, You can spend millions on a striker and they can still be duds (Madine and Acorn come to mind as spectacular examples). Blaming Bulut or anyone else for that matter is what I think drew the responses from Worcester and Sven and Ramsey 10 should know better. And this was, the last time I looked, a football forum and not the Oxford debating society.
