' Yesterday Darren Purse '

Wed Aug 02, 2023 9:25 am

The last two season under the management of Darren Purse, the U21's have struggled, but hopefully this season they will finally flourish with Purse saying he has a lot more new talent coming through :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

We should by now have at least 5 regular first team squad players that are established in the Championship after all these years.

Darren Purses Cardiff City's U21's yesterday

Darren Purse's side took on their Wolves counterparts as they ramped up their own preparations for the Professional Development League 2 campaign.

Annis. The results under Purse are worse than woeful. This should not be the case. Under Morrison they were excellent. Says it all really.

Our under 21 side should all be capable of making the step up to championship football otherwise what's the point in employing them? What's the point of having an under 21 side?

It seems that our under 21 side is on par with Welsh league standard which is way below what is needed.

We need to be ruthless here. Either sign players under 21, who are capable of playing in championship, or fold the team altogether.

There is simply no point having an under 21 side who can't make the step up

I know this is harsh but this is reality

Brezza,

Your 100% right.

I honestly don’t understand how Purse still has a job under us, NO players have come through or impressed under Purse.
We struggle against League 1 & League 2 U21’s???

Results and performances were not good and did not improve.

Ned,

Maybe that’s why Purse and Chesterfield like playing Welsh league teams because we look ok and can win games

The fact is it sadly is the truth.

Haven't we lost 4 academy players to premier league sides. Unless we find way of stopping this. It's pointless having an academy.

We struggle against clubs like Crewe , Colchester, Peterborough.

Three over a period of 14 years and these never even got in to the U21’s squad.

And I am not sure how they’ve done?

Remember we were told three years ago that the U21’s were the best we’ve ever had , then we were told 12 were good enough for the first team squad, the majority have now just either faded away or gone to lower league clubs.

We need both Colwill brothers to make it, then we have finally achieved something.

I myself have high hopes for both brothers.

Annis, you do think the younger brother is going to come good then?

Scap it and play a reserve league with any age it's the only way they can better themselves vs season pros coming back ect this whole under 21s is total crap in my opinion and produced nothing really as of yet.

Tan buys Caerau Ely welsh league team, all our youngsters are signed by them, and then loaned to city. the big boys cannot automatically have the right to poach welsh leagues side, like they have with English league clubs. as all the players would be under 23 the city could loan every one of them. Just a thought.
