What do people feel we need now?

Having a conversation with a friend of mine over a pint about this very question.

I feel all we need now is: Box-Box Midfielder, Right Back.

Our midfield is missing someone in the mould of Gunnarsson, or an Olofinjana type player. A box-box midfield destroyer. Get someone in like that to play alongside Ralls or Wintle, and I personally feel it’s the best midfield in the league, spearheaded by Ramsey.

Then, with an opinion I don’t think will go down well. I think Perry is much better as a 3rd centre back, rather than a right back, so I feel we need another right back. Romeo had a good season last year, but I don’t think he suits the way Bulut wants to play with his full backs coming inside. It’s a shame, because I don’t think Bulut will be playing a back 5, but personally I think that is Perry’s strongest position. He can’t play in a back four, but in a back 5 he’s very capable because he acts almost as a sweeper.

I don’t think we need a striker in the mould of Kieffer. Yes, it would help. However, both times we got promoted previously our top scorers barely hit double figures.

The foundation of those promotion campaigns were based on a solid defence.
I can see goals coming from all over the team, so I don’t think we will struggle too much with goals (hopefully!)
The likes of Grant, Robbo, Ramsey, Colwill, Meite, Bowler etc. I feel there’s plenty of creativity and goals there. Then you got the likes of Goutas and McGuiness that I can see chipping in with a few too!

For me we need the following

Goalkeeper
Centre half
Defensive midfielder
Centre forward

If we could get all of the above better than we currently have then I think we could have a very competitive season.

Yeah, agree with you on the GK front and CB actually.

I don’t feel we need a defensive midfielder, as that’s kind of Rino’s role. We need someone who can play box-box, rather than another Rino.

I doubt we’ll be getting another GK.
Agree on a more box to box CM, somebody who can put his foot on the ball and control the tempo of the game. Not easy to find admittedly.
Also a CB and striker.
All 3 first team players to raise the quality of our main starting 11 and we may have a half decent season, but we have to solve the issue of not scoring goals.

Could do with a LB and a striker tbh, think with the signings we have made and the players still here we have enough to push on
