MY VIEW / OPINION: A TEAM OF FREEBIES NEARLY PULLED OF AN AWAY VICTORY AT ELLAND ROAD BUT WERE DENIED IN THE LAST MINUTE.

A 96th minute equaliser by Leeds.

EROL BULUTS CITY TEAM WENT IN TO TODAYS GAME FULL OF OPTIMISM

Leeds were without their 3 main strikers all injured
Their first, second and third choice strikers

I am happy with a draw

City played well but to be honest Leeds deserved their draw and over all Cardiff can be happy.


Before today I would of taken 1pt, but we gave them the draw.

FIRST-HALF: First 20 mins even stevens, but then Leeds could of scored twice, Leeds wow nearly a great goal , but just over.

Leeds 5 shots Cardiff 0 after 20mins.
Then GOAL! Leeds United 0-1 Cardiff City (Bowler 23)

GOAL! BOWLER!
Bowler scores but it's made by O'Dowda. Leeds' defence is suck in and Ralls plays a lovely pass out to O'Dowda. He drives and pulls it back to Bowler, who shoots and it's blocked. Ugbo is composed to lay it back to him and Bowler slots home. 1-0 Cardiff.

Ugbo makes it 2-0! Bowler is slid in around the back and he squares it to Ramsey near the penalty spot. Ramsey swivels and shoots - but it's deflected - and rolls towards the far post. Ugbo is alert, slides in and taps home

By the end of the half Cardiff looked excellent.

Can't complain about a draw with less than 30% possession.

Plenty of matches have been won with less than 30% possession.

We were a whisker away from 3 points but Leeds probably deserved their equaliser. Just glad that equaliser didn't come with 10 minutes left as we may have ended up with nothing.

Great point and hard fought performance

Delighted with a point today. Their equaliser was more than deserved. Lots of positives in terms of organisation and defensive grit. Bowler, Goutas and McGuiness were excellent. However, without sounding too negative if Leeds had scored first or if they had their strikers we would not have got something from the game today. It was attack against defence for the majority of the game, we've played them at exactly right time. We still need players in, if we think we have any hope of challenging in the top half. Not sure about Grant or Ugbo despite his goal either. Still nice to start the season with something though.

Great point and in the circumstances we played well and we won’t go to many teams who attack like that.

Get the extra players in and I can see us having a great season.

Agree Annis, happy with a point. Obviously disappointing to concede so late on but a draw at Leeds is a good result.

Let's be honest, would have been harsh on Leeds if they got nothing from the game.

Always said that four points from the first two would be a great start. I expect us to beat QPR next week, totally different expectations to today.

We could do with someone who can hold the ball up down the middle - the ball just kept coming back today

A point away to Leeds is a brilliant result compared to where we were last season. Think the subs showed the difference in quality between us and them, the second half they were able to step up a gear and the PL quality showed. Think they will do well this season, we always knew it was going to be a tough game, always is with Leeds, but a fantastic start to the season in fairness, looking forward to CCS on Saturday

It should have been three points I’m quiet disappointed we where very good first half but in the second half we held back and let Leeds come at us our strikers didn’t holdthe ball up enough for me so we could play more in there half more so in that last fifteen minutes yes it is a good point take it all day long but as I said it should have been three points

Mcguiness is a player that will only get better I believe if Moore does come a new keeper and a box to box midfielder we will be celebrating come may

I thought Alnwick was ok today, very good save near the end from James. He's better than Allsopp but I agree we need a better keeper.

Alnwick

Had a really good game made some top class saves, two early in the second half. I think he is fine as our keeper and prefer him to Allsop.

Ng

Looked troubled early on but got better. The challenge is he is a full back not a wingback. Need an out and out wingback for Bulet's style of play but pretty solid today.

Goutas

Solid, leader, great signing and well suited for this division. Organised well today. Did have a couple of loose passes through the game.

McGuiness

Two goal saving tackles today, really unlucky at the end with the deflection for the goal. Really solid and I rate him, both centre halves were great.

O'dowda

Great game, defensively against top class players he held his own and made some great tackles. Made the run for the goal and great cut back, couldn't show that partnership with Grant we've seen because of the pace and quality of the opposition.

Wintle

Did a Wintle today, worked hard broke up play, needs more quality next to him to feed the ball in to.

Ralls

Did well until injured, great pass to O'dowda for the goal. Great vision. Little injury prone ATM.

Ramsey

Quality was there and his work rate was fantastic. Give his all but it is 60 to 70 mims these days. Should've been pulled a little earlier. His quality will create chances and he had an assist for Ugbo's goal. We have to keep him fit and his high pressure tenacious game could see his body fail him. Fingers crossed. Oh Rob Page, that is his position, not deep lying!!!

Bowler

Great both ways, can't wait to see him play against QPR, driving forward, I think he'll be a star for us, drives forward beats defenders. Took his goal well.

Grant

Quiet going forward but battled defensively, I don't think is a game he likes. Again like Bowler it will be great to see him on the front foot.

Ugbo

Great that he got a goal and did really well to battle on his own on the first half. Jury is out, does he have the absolute hunger to be a top striker, I think if he scores a few he may kick on.

General

A great performance against a top class team with a front four worth twice as much as our full squad. Great hitting them on the break in the first half and valiant defending. Ebou Adams was everywhere when he came on and gave everything for the shirt, tackle after tackle awesome.

Negatives, in the first half player were caught waiting for the ball or not reacting quickly enough. Ramsey had two or three wayward passes first half. O'dowda lost the ball twice whilst high up the pitch in the lead up to the corner for their first.

Second half there was no out ball, centre forward didn't hold the ball up and hence the constant pressure.

We didn't see the inverted wingbacks today as we held the solid back four. This will change.

Stats were telling, with 28% possession and pass accuracy of only 69% as the ball came back at us. Leeds had 744 passes vs our 291. On streaks we averaged 3 pass streaks Leeds 7. None of this is a surprise.

A few more quality players heading in, onwards and upwards.

They made a right mess of tickets. We ended up in section at front of stand between Leeds fans each side. No food or drink in our area they started handed out bottles of water,crisps for the kids f*cking shocking up there.

Proud - Just proud - for the first time in a long time. There were a lot of players out there in blue today willing to put their bodies on the line for a result. The distraught and gutted looks on City players faces at not quite holding on made me proud today!! Leeds are a multi-million pound team and one of the favourites for automatic promotion - there won't be many teams taking a point there this season. Well done Erol and the players.

It is easy to think Leeds pressed us hard in the second half and forget they had no choice they were 2-0 down. This all out attack cost them in the premiership making them easy for a counter. Their defence let in 2 goals and they just scraped a draw in the dying minutes. A lot of their 70% were back passes due to us pressing. It was edgy stuff but every team will attack at some point. Away to Leeds and they get a lucky draw, so we actually did better than them.

We need a Kiffer MOORE to hold the ball up MORE

Erol Bulut says they did and the Leeds Boss can’t believe Leeds never won it.

Draw was a fair result, we didn't cause them problems in the second half.

Like it was said by Bulut, the injury to Ralls had an impact.

Let’s hope we can follow it up with a win over qpr who aren’t it good form at all…..
