" Similarities and differences to last season "

Sun Aug 06, 2023 4:06 pm

Just a couple of thoughts on today.

One thing that was similar to last season was we did sit too deep in the second half and that equaliser always looked like it was coming.

On a more positive side, when we attack a lot of players are getting forward which lead to us scoring two goals.

Last season we never had enough players high up the pitch.

All in all, a good point and I'm looking forward to QPR next week.

Agreed with all u said …some very solid performances and we have a great chance against QPR to get the win…looked miles away from the dross of last season at times but their quality told in the end.
Very good point even tho disappointed

I never get this theory that we sit back too much when defending a lead.

It's not an intentional tactic. It's what happens when a losing team push for goals.

There is not a fool proof counter to this. You meet fire with fire and you end up leaving gaps that will be taken advantage of.

It's just the affect that a quality side has on you when pushing for goals.

Absolutely spot on!

Leeds are a class side and offensively they were electric second half.

We choose to sit too deep it was forced upon us.

Leeds have a lot of good attacking players. Always a chance they would break us down Paul.

Let’s be honest we knew it was coming. Can a top manager say let’s change this?

I was really pleased with our attacking and next week, hopefully, we will not need to defend half as much as we did today against a very good and valuable Leeds side.

Lets make no mistake - Leeds were celebrating because they got a point against us. That shows how good we were and we deserve credit for that.

QPR performed very badly against Watford conceding four in the first half - so I am hoping for 4pts from 6 after next week. :bluescarf:

Would have taken a point before Kick - Off ...But to go 2-0 Up .. The questions have to asked or pointed out -

Same as I said last season - The final 10 mins + How many goals did we let in last season ??? and points dropped ???

We are going to find this season more and more added on time with these new rules - Needs to be addressed :bluescarf:

We were 8-1 to win this game, still some are not happy. They had nothing to lose 2nd half and went flat out and that gave Ugbo a great chance to score on the break, if that had gone in everyone would say what a great performance in attack and defence. The 2nd goal for them was blocked but fell kindly to their player so they scraped a draw in injury time. The relief by their players getting a late draw was matched by the heart break on our teams faces. They did us all proud so we do not need any negatives especially after one game. A final note, Ugbo only comes alive in the penalty area but when he does he is a threat.

But that did not happen - So this thread is about ... " Similarities and differences to last season "
How many players last season had a chance to score - But did Not ??? - This thread is about the differences ;)
Personally - Happy with a point but gutted We did not take All 3 after being 2-0 Up ;)

It's because when we clear we haven't got players that can win and keep the ball, we need a Kiefer Moore, they don't only score they can hold the ball up and relieve pressure.

Well said it was a good performance, quite a lot of players were outstanding, Alnwick, McGuiness, Bolwer, Leeds will probably do a Burnley and win the League easily.
