‘ £2Mill / if only ‘

Tue Aug 08, 2023 8:56 am

Watford are ready to pay £2mill for Sory Kaba .

If we had not been unprofessional and paid the instalment in the extra 30 dats we would of been able to Sign Kaba.

That’s what we are missing a striker.

We can only blame ourselves.

Watford lead Kaba race

Watford are leading the race to sign Sory Kaba for £2million, according to The Telegraph.

A host of clubs are said to be interested in the FC Midtjylland striker, who netted eight goals in 17 games for the Bluebirds on loan last season.

Cardiff were interested in getting the striker back, but under the terms of their embargo they are unable to pay fees for players.

It is now claimed the Hornets, against whom Kaba scored a fantastic bicycle kick last season, are closing in on signing the player for £2million.

Can’t we put in a loan to buy offer in

He'll flop at Watford and be available for less in Jan. By then, we'll be in the promotion race and probably won't need him.

He's not coming back, neither are any of the players we had on loan. Best we move on.

Did a good job as a loanee but now we are rightly looking at strikers we will be able to sign.

100% agree no point looking back only forward.

He did well for us last season by putting the ball in the net 8 times, however is all round game was atrocious

He couldn’t hold the ball up, didn’t run the channels, didn’t work hard and his control was poor

I maybe wrong but I think his goal scoring record with us was a bit of a fluke and probably a one off

Be surprised if he reaches double figures for Watford

The people running our club would struggle to run a bath correctly.

Is £2 million a good price for him?

The post is just a means to have a dig.

We have had a good transfer window widely acknowledged.

Although the Op is right in that a bit of money would possibly give us a squad able to go up.

It has been explained previously that the terms of the embargo prevent us from committing future fees such as 'loan to buy' whilst we are under an embargo.

If you think about it that has to be correct otherwise the embargo would be worthless as the club under the embargo could get around it by making several loan to buy offers

Can we not take him on loan for 12 months with a guaranteed purchase of £3m next summer?

His all round game was shit , he done a job a striker should do and is score but he isn't that good tho

No. When a club is under an embargo, they are not allowed to commit future transfer funds. We can't even use the £1m owed by Bournemouth in any deal for Moore.

Look at it logically if a club were allowed to do that then the embargo would be pointless.

The embargo IS pointless and there are loads of ways we can get around it. Some elaborate others not so.

An easy way would be to loan him for twelve months and then have a gentlemans agreement behind the scenes to buy him for £3m next year.

Alternatively the seller could receive an interest free loan off a ccfc director (let's say tormen finance lent seller £2m) seller then allows player to come on loan. We then purchase player in January, for £2m, when we can. Seller repays tormen finance £2m = NO RULES BROKEN

He was brilliant the best we've had in ages, in this team he'd score sh!t loads.

Not sure that's true tbh , his movement was poor and his goals were put on a plate for him . Ugbo will be better I feel.

That would be a waste of £3m for all the reasons previously stated and would just become another reason to berate the club for another mistake if he didn't score a load of goals.

I also think Ugbo looks as if he could be a better striker than Kaba.
I think he will be far more mobile with a better control of the ball with his back to goal.
He's needed to get match fit and I don't think he's too far away following that display at Leeds.
However, we need competition in that position, so another decent centre forward is required.

hhmmm let's agree to differ, before he came we couldn't score, he came and kept us up, granted he was a bit unorthodox but he knew where the net was made the right runs, and got himself in goal-scoring positions, despite mediocre service from a struggling team at the bottom of the league.

He is wanted by three or four Championship teams, why do you think that is?

Re: ‘ £2Mill / if only ‘

Tue Aug 08, 2023 5:13 pm

one of the strangest players since Earnie, general play was poor but boy, did he know where the net was.

We needed a saviour, he loved that and delivered. Watford on the other hand are a different club to us. If the goals dry up, he doesn't look that great and he will soon be down the pecking order.

Thought he was excellent for us….brought in to score and he did just that …
Would love to have him back and I would definitely pay2 million for him

What a load of nonsense!

Wrong in so many ways, anyway, just move on.

Kaba gone, Kipre gone and Philogene gone, no big deal.
