Taking the knee

Wed Aug 09, 2023 3:52 pm

I know it's only a few select games, and it doesn't affect us, but surely this is getting a bit riduculous.
Why can't they just get on with game instead of forcing this nonsense down everyone's throat.

'Premier League captains have confirmed that players will once again take the knee before specific matches during the 2023/24 season, to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to fight racism and all forms of discrimination.

'Players will take the knee at the Premier League’s opening and final match rounds of the season, as well as dedicated No Room For Racism fixtures in October and April, and Boxing Day fixtures.'

We're not doing it, PL clubs are though.

Agree, time it stopped. Some think shouldn't have been done in the first place, can see that argument.

ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC BY EVERYONE OF THEM.

It’s funny that our toothless performances over the last two seasons have coincided with us needlessly kneeling before our opponents prior to every kick off whilst the opposition are focusing on the game ahead. It’s a pointless distraction.

It’s absolutely ridiculous and worse than pathetic .

I hated it from the start off.

This was associated with the BLM movement that is nothing but a racist organisation. When the football world adapted it there was a big outcry against it. The stubbornest of the authorities to listen to the argument against it was ignorant in my view. This ignorance was only matched by the media.

The one moment that sticks out to me was when Bournemouth decided not to carry on doing the knee. So what did the media do aka Sky. The interviewed one of the Bournemouth players who wanted to carry on doing the knee. This interview was supported by some Sky presenter who had one of those faces you could not stop punching. Sky just gave one side of the story and that was were the problems lies, Media agenda.

It should never have started in the first place. Will always be associated with that racist political group black lives matter.

Politics has no place in sport. Unless of course sky are running with it. :banghead:

Millwall fans booed it in full from the start-fair play to them. I never did ,but it was utterly pitiful to see
It WAS forced as there was never a fair outcome if anyone said Im not doing it . Look at the grief those players that did not participate in this gesture got. Look at the stick any fan who called BS received from other supporters

Agree about the above comments regarding the BBC too. It is practically unwatchable and should be defunded

At one point Bacuna (others were doing it too, but he stuck out) was kneeling with his fist in the air too .
What exactly did that represent?
Effective when you are a black man suffering genuine discrimination in 60s America.
Not so much `when you are a rich footballer in the UK in the 2020s and have not suffered a single days hardship
At that point it was especially difficult to support these players for me

Meaningless pathetic virtue signalling.

For me fist in the air is racist

If it was the other way around they would be done for it

Millwall did freedom of speech and right so, if we had we would of been banned

I'm pretty sure Bacuna was representing as a sportsman with (a bit) of media coverage. He was not doing it for his own situation.
