Not wanting to put a damper on this great Photo, but is it really Gordon Banks?

Gordon Banks was playing for Leicester City in the old First division during this time, while we were playing in the second division.

Checking on the stats we never played LCFC anytime during the 1962/63, or the 1963/64 seasons?

it could possibly be from an earlier season, however the last time we played LCFC in the old first division was the 1961/62 season, on April 7th, loosing 0-4, Att 11058.

Ahh, just realised.... Wales v England, 12/10/63 possibly?

If you focus in on his shirt, he's definitely playing for England.

Conclusive evidence with the badge. Looks like GB was in fine form that day…. Wales lost 0-4.

Was that the year there were over 63,000 packed into Ninian Park? Can't imagine many more getting in there if it wasn't.

This is a fantastic photograph, the photographers back then took the pic, it was developed and went into the newspaper, magazine etc. Brilliant work.
Compare that to today's photographers who can edit the pic before it's sent down the line.
