The fact that bigger teams have come down from the Prem and up from L1 will have played a part.

Leicester, Leeds, Southampton, Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday all have fairly big venues and will be replacing venues from Luton and Blackpool

Compared to a lot of these clubs, our support is piss poor. Cities of similar size to Cardiff have far better support. Norwich fill their ground every home game, Ipswich's population is less than half of Cardiff's and yet they will average more than us this season. Sunderland's support is phenominal and they are on a par with us population wise. Stoke, Leicester, Southampton are similar size and yet they will average more than we will. I don't know why but we're not as big as we think we are.

Maybe their fans get behind their teams more than Cardiff’s who are so critical when performances don’t go as planned or hoped for.
