MEHMET DALMAN:IF WE ARE IN THE TOP 10 / OUR VALUE WILL SOAR

Sun Aug 13, 2023 1:17 pm

HERE WE GO AGAIN WITH NEW / MORE DALMAN SPIN:

Changed his tune, praising Tan today

Let’s start achieving something first please.

MEHMET DALMAN:

“We’ve brought in six new players, not quantity this year, but quality.”

"We've restructured the recruitment, have a new head in charge of that who is responsive, able to move very quickly, and that's why we've got a lot done in terms of the quality this summer."

"And we made it happen. We had Aaron lined up before Erol even came in, but told him he was coming, asked 'Are okay with that?' Erol said let's meet and they've responded well to one another.”

"Vincent is absolutely delighted to have Ramsey here. The Ramsey deal couldn't have happened without Vincent's support. It's his chequebook that runs the club," said Dalman..

"His enthusiasm has never wavered. He continues to watch every single game out in Malaysia, regardless of the time difference.

"Over the last two years he became quite depressed at the way results went for us. If we can regalvanise this, I think he'll be rejuvenated. If we do well enough in the first six games I think he'll re-energise his interests in the future of the club and the team."

Dalman says the value of football clubs is 'going through the roof', with private equity firms getting heavily involved amid foreign ownership interest. As such, whereas Cardiff would have been worth around £30m a few years back, a thriving Bluebirds might soon be worth closer to £80m or £90m in the current market.

"In terms of the money which has been burned, there's a better chance of getting it back one day in this environment than before," said Dalman.

"If we're in the top 10 around Christmas, I think you'll see a very interested Vincent Tan. I really hope it happens for him because he deserves to recoup some of his investment. We definitely need to succeed on the pitch to get revenue into this football club."

It’s very very weird how other clubs and say smaller clubs than us get big investments and we are struggling to get one???

But as we know Annis, Tan is holding put for a ridiculously stupendous £200M. The only way he will get anywhere close to that is if we go up, and stay up at least one or two years.

If we take the emotion out of the equation, we have improved the individual quality of our team no end, but the team is far from being promotion material unless we continue to invest in quality loans and frees, and then buy further quality in Jan.

Wintle, Collins, McGuiness were shown to be good players in a poor team last year, but actually can they be part of a strong promotion team.

Etete is a willing runner and trier, but Im afraid not Championship standard. A quality CB, CF, CM and winger, and that'll make our value soar, but certainly to anywhere near where Tan would listen to offers.

Yesterdays defeat was shattering after the build up, butI saw glimpses that things could be different if we continue and dont stop now.

I read that as MD publicly saying someone (or in reality his finance firm fund) will pay VT £90m max if we are top 10 at Christmas and VT is dreaming if he thinks he's getting his £200m back. Another MD statement and playing the long game until Vinnie sees sense and sells for a realistic price and the deal is done, and I'm of the opinion it will be as Vinnie wants out and MD wants in.

TBH, if MD was the owner and let someone like Sam run the
whole show it would give us the best chance of a real crack at the PL with a view of staying there. It would be that easy and Vinnie could do it if he takes the stick from out of his arse and sees sense.

Mehmet Dalman:

"I've been meeting a lot with US private equity funds and the valuation of football clubs is going through the roof. Americans are determined to come into this market quite heavily," said Dalman.

"I spoke to the owners of Leeds when we were there, and Championship clubs are valued at three times their revenue, give or take.

"Manchester United are going to announce their sale at £7.2bn-7.3bn, which is roughly 10 times their revenue.

"Two or three years ago, we might have been talking about selling Cardiff for about £20m or £30m but now you're going to have to look at £90m or £100m. Valuations [of Championship clubs] have all stretched.

"In terms of the money burned, you have a better chance of getting it back in this environment than you ever have before.

"Over the last two years Vincent became quite depressed at the way results went for us. If we can reawaken this, I think he'll be rejuvenated.

"If we're in the top 10 at Christmas I think you'll see a very interested Vincent Tan. I really hope it happens for him because he deserves to recoup some of his investment.

"Right now, there is no such discussion [about selling Cardiff] but if someone wants to talk to me, come and talk to me.

"We need to succeed on the pitch to get revenue into this football club. There's a feelgood factor about it at the moment. I'm enjoying that

Any of it...? :?

There are large parts of that that are correct; or are you/others saying the club haven't genuinely tried to put together a better squad this season under trying conditions...? :?

It's one thing to 'knock' Dalman's 'Tan talk' but not the rest (on this occasion)... :ayatollah:

I have just read a book called 'The Price of Football' by University of Liverpool football finance lecturer Kieran Maguire. There is a chapter dedicated to the valuation of football clubs.

Whilst normal fiscal rules apply to football clubs, i.e. they are only worth what anyone is willing to pay for them, there was a number of equations which could be used to give a baseline value of a football club.

The most basic equation was revenue x 1.5.

Cardiff's revenue last year was around £20m. Multiply that by 1.5 and you get £30m.

IMO that is the value of Cardiff City FC ATM.

However, there was another equation which factored in the debt held by the club which bizarrely massively increased the value of the club. Don't ask me why I have read it several times and just can't get my head around it, but it is this kind of maths which values Man United at £6b when the real market value should be £2.5b.

So, if you factor in our £200m debt the club would be worth a lot more. The only thing being I can't see a line of American investment firms will to pay £230m for CCFC.

What are Brentford and Brighton worth now?

Appoint a decent director who knows what to do and he gets decent Managers and the sky's the limit, we've got much more potential being a Capital City than both of those.

Look at the attention shity little Wrexham is getting.
