“WE ARE BACK ON TRACK & THE DREAM OF PREMIERSHIP IS” SAYS

Mon Aug 14, 2023 7:35 am

MY VIEW: WOW SO NOW ITS ADMITTED WE DID NOT SIGN QUALITY LAST SEASON, JUST PILED IN NUMBERS.
DALMAN SAYS WE HAVE SENT REAL QUALITY AS WELL OUT ON LOAN??

I got slated last season when I never rated Morison’s squad.

Dalman for me the fans will expect you to deliver this season.

Also for the last 3 years Dalman saud the youth are our future and they will be playing etc etc

MEHMET DALMAN:

“Cardiff are finally back on the right track after a horrendous period,” admits Dalman “ and we are now focussed on the dream of returning to the Premiership.”

“Our previous boss Morison brought in 17 new players last summer, but only two of them, Jak Alnwick and Callum O'Dowda, started the new season under Bulut at Leeds.”

“We have gone from quantity to quality this season.”

“ Buluts side against QPR contained five of his own six new signings, Ramsey, Josh Bowler, Ike Ugbo, Karlan Grant and Dimitrios Goutas, with Yakou Meite out injured.”

"Eight quality new signings this summer would be a heck of a lot, but we needed it," said Dalman. "We gave a presentation to Vincent Tan where we spoke about wanting to shift from quantity to quality.”

"There are six new players in so far, but in going for the quality the cost base has not gone up tremendously either, because players have left and others will be going as well. We have an absolute determination to balance the books.

"We have also sent talented youngsters out on loan. We want them to get 30-35 games behind them at other clubs and come back better players. Isaak Davies and Joel Bagan, for example, have gone to Belgium for the season. They will return to Cardiff City as better footballers. We see them as important parts of the future of this club.

"What we've tried to do on quantity over quality is keep the finances the same. We previously spent a lot of time restructuring the cost base and we need to maintain that. So it does mean we have to get people out as we bring others in.

"But the improvement in quality was essential for the team. Since I've been here as chairman this is the best window I've been involved in.

"The main difference is that previous managers knew who they wanted position wise, went to agents or the market, to see who was available, and then they would take them or not.”

"The difference this time is Erol has a certain style of football and asked us who the best talents were to suit that. We went after them. Some we were informed quite quickly were not available. Some were interested.

"Let's remember that over the last two years this cub has fought against relegation. So it hasn't been the easiest of pitches this summer. We had to go out to these players and sell a dream - and that's been the difference."

“Now we are ready to challenge for top flight football again.”

The didn't look like quality on Saturday, the best player was a non-league recruit who was only given 20 minutes!

Mark,

I am starting to admit maybe I got it wrong Tanner and hopefully I have.

The majority of Saturday’s team have now played together for a minimum of 10 games

I will still hold judgement till we are 12 games in this season

But it did seem this amazing quality and I really hope I am
Proved wrong

He's backed up pretty much what he's said at the beginning of the season when bulut was announced.
He's always been quite open in my opinion.
Weve for sure had worse in his position.

By using the word ‘ now ‘ with us being ready to challenge for top flight football blows his argument apart .

Early days but we don’t have anywhere near the quality of Leciester , Southampton etc and the football was so slow on Saturday.
I get that he has to be positive but you also have to be realistic….I will judge Bulut half way through the season and see where we are.

Would be more than happy if we were mid table then tbh but staying positive even tho I thought we would win comfortably on Saturday !

I got slated myself when Dalman started all this in June, it was even questioned if i was an actual City fan for voicing my opinion of the spin.

Since then I have kept my head down and been quiet about the signings, the only thing I will say now is that we have 1 of the 3 so called exciting signings in and Rambo actually instigated the move himself.

The next two signings need to be another good central defender and a good disruptive midfielder, then if the Moore signing comes off or not I for one will be happy, but more importantly will start to believe in Dalman wanting to move the whole club forward.

I'm actually going to stick up for Dalman here.

He's right about the new signings, we have brought in more quality this summer than we have for a long time. There will still be more to come in the next two weeks or so which will further improve the quality.

It's going to take a few games for these players to gel but there have been positive signs in both league games.

Our window has been remarkable really considering the restrictions we're under. That's not me saying that, it's pundits who are neutral to Cardiff City like Keith Andrews. Many thought we would just sign League One and League Two players this summer, we have done much better than that.

It is of course the club's fault we are under those restrictions and they have been rightly been criticised for that.

On the football side, I said it was worrying on Saturday. Said before the game it would be if we lost, so I have to stand by that. But let's not pretend it was a bad performance. We created chances, scored a goal and looked like scoring which is more that can be said for last season. Both goals came from individual mistakes which can be sorted out. Second goal was a fast counter attack when we had a lot of players up the pitch.

We also put in a good performance at Leeds.

Let's remind ourselves where we were the last two seasons. It's been depressing. I have always said the main target should be progress from that, which I think we'll comfortably achieve. I like what Bulut is doing and after a few games, I think that will be proven.

We have played two games. There are 44 to go. I think in 8-10 games time we will look in a good place and probably be around mid table then.

He's also right to call it a dream. He's not saying that this current squad is a top six team. He rightly said that if at Christmas we're around the top half (which is reasonably possible) then we can spend some money in January with the hope of making a play-off push.

Dalman didn't have to give this interview. In previous years he wouldn't have done. So he's given the interview and as chairman of the club, he's going to be positive.

Despite the result on Saturday, I'm still optimistic for this season. But fans have to be patient and give it a few games. We have a few new players and it will always take 4 or 5 games to gel. There are already signs of improvement in performances.

What I mainly wanted to see this season was signs of progress. I think they are already there and will increase as the season goes on.

I hope and would expect they will be patient with Bulut. He's doing the right things. Chopping and changing managers after a few months has been part of our problem, so there will be a degree of patience and I'm sure that we will progress as the season goes on. He's a proper football manager, unlike the likes of Morison and Hudson.

Still feeling relatively optimistic as the season progresses.

Good post.

It would have been interesting to have seen the reaction to Dalman's views had he said them after we got a point at Leeds last week. I suspect he is being shouted down more for us losing 2-1 to QPR rather than what he actually said on this issue.

Whilst I understand that Dalman can over egg the omelette at times, he is correct in his views on this. It is good to see someone brave enough to go against the tide and point that out.

Well what a great post and I say that as one who often doesn’t agree with you!

Well thought out, articulate and makes sense. Also it’s refreshingly positive and I believe we have every right to be. It could have been a lot worse and this makes a nice change from the ‘Fakebook’ posts constantly put on here. Moaning about everything under the sun! I’ve even read that we should get rid of Grant ffs! Whilst he’s been very poor and I was screaming for him to be brought off at halftime on Saturday, at least give him time.

The key to your post is the word progress as I believe anywhere around mid table will be a success with freebies and no cost loans.

I can't understand the optimism of Dalman and some fans, to date.
Other than those 2 early goals against Leeds, we had such little possession in game one.
Another home defeat in game two with just a late consolation goal against a team who were hammered the previous week.
One point out of the first six, to date.
I wouldn't call that 'back on track and dreaming of the Premiership'

But we all live in hope. Leicester away next. :laughing6:

Ned,

We brought on signings unverifiable quick last season and every was going over hours about them.

Now Dalman says they were quantity not quality   and at the time I was not impressed at all , but the usual suspects slagged me down and totally disappeared and they are re-emerging under new names.
We were told our 18,19 & 20 yr olds were stars in the waiting, All gone now and failed.

Now we are told we have sent three quality players out on loan, they are 29,21 and 22 yrs old they should of made it by now.
Leeds away we always raise our game and at the moment they are in still in a mess and look lost straight to Brum.
Let’s see how we do at Leicester and Ipswich,
If we can come away with points , I will start to believe.
Wednesday home surely is a homebamker?

QPR I predict under Ainsworth bottom 5 come May.

Erol has been here since the first of June and had the majority of his players for at least 9 games.

I will reserve judgment till 12 league games as always.

Plus, these 3 New players coming in could be what we really are missing.

Dalman I will always say this Boris No2

We back all our managers , can’t keep up how many nowadays.

Erol is our best since Warnock, but that’s not hard to beat.

Obviously dalman been smoking from the crack pipe thinking we are on track to the prem with this squad. On paper the squads better than last season even if its freebies and loans but nowhere near the top end of the table yet. But let's be honest this manager will probably be showing the door if it ain't good by November even if he ain't spent 1p on a player bar wages. That's how daft these owners and people at the clubs have become.

I’m not sticking up for Dalman here as I think he’s a bit of a snake but I don’t think he’s saying anything of the sort about “we are on track to the prem with this squad”

He’s saying we are back on track after an horrendous period - which I believe we are and - we are focussed on the dream of returning to the Premiership.

That doesn’t read or mean anything like what you made out he said.

I really didn't like Morrison but my God, talk about stabbing someone in the back. Morrison's squad was weak yes but only because upstairs gave him a tiny budget and expected him to work a miracle. He tried and failed and was always going to. Its not Morrison's fault that only 2 of those players started on Saturday, it's Tan and his board...can't believe I'm sticking up for Morrison but that comment is very unfair!!!

Dalman has decided to get more involved this season. He will want the fans onside but he is going to have to work at that. The fans have been left disappointed over the last few seasons and the only way they will come back onside big time is an improvement with the result. Although its early days it is not looking good.

With this talk about US Fund Management he is looking to attract someone from there. Perhaps this is a chance to recoup some of the money for Tan so we can get rid of him, who knows. If so it will be a lot easier to do if the fans are onside. We need to start winning some games.

WOW Progress , where have we progressed in the last 14 years?

Where are we now?

This all bullshit from Dalman again.

The truth, we have to hope and prey that we actually can be say midd table this season.

Credit to the board and the recruitment people for pushing us on as much as possible.

WOW Progress , where have we progressed in the last 14 years?

Where are we now?

This all bullshit from Dalman again.

The truth, we have to hope and prey that we actually can be say midd table this season.

If you read Worcesters post on the 8th paragraph he’s talks about progress on the pitch over the last 2 years.

I’m agreeing with him on that. I’m not talking about Dalmans bullshit.

The fact is we have recruited what seems to be better players than Morison brought in with a better manager than Morison was.
That to me is progress on the pitch.

Of course nobody knows yet and only time will tell but I’m optimistic.

Our previous boss Morison brought in 17 new players last summer, but only two of them, Jak Alnwick and Callum O'Dowda, started the new season under Bulut at Leeds.”

A pathetic comment by him when four others, including a goal keeper, are deemed injured for the Leeds match and all are prime first team players. Plus add to that, Tanner. Who is now being bigged up by many. That’s nearly half of the so called “quantity” players. Add in Cedric, Philogene and Kaba and over half of last years in take would still be picked. Really pisses me off with the short term memory mentality. Will he say the same when the current loan players return to their clubs?
