Samson Tovide will miss Colchester United’s next two matches, the club have confirmed.
The 19-year-old striker will serve a three-match suspension, following his red card in the closing stages of the U’s Carabao Cup first-round tie at Championship club Cardiff City, last Wednesday.
Colchester had hoped that Tovide’s suspension would only be for one game, after he was dismissed for serious foul play following a high challenge on Bluebirds defender Jamilu Collins, at the Cardiff City Stadium.
However, it has been confirmed that Tovide will serve a full three-match ban and will therefore miss tomorrow night’s game against AFC Wimbledon and this Saturday’s home clash with MK Dons, both at the JobServe Community Stadium.
