U's player banned for horror Collins challenge
Colchester United's Samson Tovide has been slapped with a three-game ban after his horror challenge on Jamilu Collins last week.
Tovide was given his marching orders after a terrible lunge that saw his boot clash with Collins' face late on in the Carabao Cup tie.
Fortunately for Collins, after some treatment, he was able to get up and continue, and was fit again for the Championship game against QPR on Saturday.
Tovide already missed the U's defeat against Bradford City last weekend, but will now almost be absent for games against MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon.
Colchester boss Ben Garner said: “The only good thing is that we have Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday, so he’ll have the rest of this week and then be back.
“He’s obviously a big miss for us – he’s been a key player for us last season and pre-season, so naturally disappointed but we’ll get him back as quickly as we can.
“It gave an opportunity to Brad (Ihionvien) at Bradford and I thought he came on and did well. It might give opportunities to him, this week.”
