What’s the point of Salford City & Harrogate in the League, their home supports are usually pathetic but look at their away Support

To take less than 100 away, especially this early in the season, is shocking by both. I know they both have low home supports but still very bad.
Salford are only in League Two because of the money from Peter Lim, Gary Neville and the rest of them. With their crowds, they'll struggle to progress much further.

That's the magic of the pyramid system with the alternative being the closed shop system of the Americans or that the European "elite" were trying to push through and I know which one I would prefer. It's not easy explaining the system to Americans but when they do get it they, for the most part, like it.
Do you have an alternative system that you would like to see installed that would stop teams with such low support being allowed into the higher leagues? What would be your cutoff crowd number for teams being allowed into your league?
At the end of the day it is what it is and it's thankfully not changing anytime soon.

Poor support by Burton as well, Shrewsbury isn't very far from there. Burton were in the Championship not long ago.

Our son (born and bred in Manchester) played semi-pro football against Salford & Fleetwood - before they both entered the Football League.
Salford's ground (guessing it was around 2005) was shocking with about 150 spectators. The bar held about 50 people.
The new "Salford City" changed their colours from amber to red and are in a new ground.
Despite loads of investment and big signings, the people of Salford have never got behind the new team. Small club, poor support and a vanity project for the "Class of '92".
Why didn't Gary & Phil Neville invest in Bury FC - their home-town team ?

Well said Sir. Who is anyone to question the validity of lesser supported teams to be in the Football League.
The glory of this institution is that it is based on merit, not upon the size of fanbase.
The passion and commitment of each of those Salford and Harrogate fans who travel the country to support their team is just as strong and valid as those of Newcastle, Sunderland, Leeds or any club who travel in large numbers.
Just because they are fewer in number does not make the support of their club any less worthy,or their place in the pyramid any less justified.
An appalling elitist and cynical view.

We have Jules,
But the potential was always there.
Salford City and Harrogate could win the FA CUP but they will never have a fan base and for me football is about the fans.

Absolutely poor support by Burton, Ned there are way to many well supported clubs with loyal support in the non leagues now due to owners running their clubs badly.

Badly supported but they aren't in the league based off of support. They are there based on their results.
Money is unfortunately a massive thing in football these days, just look at Man City
They will struggle to reach a point where they are able to really go much further but it's still a club, and realistically, hats off to the supporters who did make the trips
