Cardiff City Football Club are delighted to welcome midfielder Manolis Siopis, who has signed a three- year contract with the Bluebirds.

Hailing from Tychero, Manolis has represented the likes of Olympiacos, Platanias, Panionios and Aris in his native Greece.

In 2019, the midfielder made the switch to Turkey with Alanyaspor, who were managed by City boss Erol Bulut. Manolis most recently played for Trabzonspor, winning the Süper Lig and the Turkish Super Cup in 2022.

The defensive-minded midfielder also boasts experience at international level, having won 23 caps for Greece, earning his first cap against Turkey in May 2019.

Speaking at Cardiff City Stadium, Manolis said: "I know Erol Bulut very well. We worked together, and he wants to win every time. I also work like this all of my career.

"I also know Dimi [Goutas] very well, too - he is my good friend. We have spoken, but not too much. He is a very good player, and I hope we can help the team to achieve our targets.

"I have seen the stadium, and I cannot wait to play with our supporters. They will see what I can do on the field."

City boss Bulut added: “Normally, a player like Manolis, when you try to take him, you can’t take him. It’s really difficult to get a player like this.

“I brought him to Alanyaspor and he took a really big step to Trabzonspor. When we saw that he became available, we contacted him and we have a really good relationship.

“He’s a fighter, who will work hard for the team. The fans will like him and in the last few years, he has increased his technical skills with the ball.”

We needed a player in this position, he's played for a couple of huge clubs and sounds like he's good with the ball technically.

Absolutely delighted with this signing, although I can say I’ve not seen him play. But he was playing in Europe last year and the season before won the Turkish league which is no mean feat. Also seems like the sort of commanding sitting midfielder we desperately need to play with either Ralls or Wintle. Hats off to the board this year, we are certainly on the way up compared to the previous 3 or 4 seasons.

On paper he looks a good signing for a Championship team but my comment was about this so called 'game changer' signing. If this is the player then time will tell. Good luck to him.

Played every game for Trabzonspor last 2 seasons in a row, Won the title, in the champions league, and they offered him a 3 year extension and he’s paid up his contract to join us £240000. That alone is enough to hint towards his quality and importance in a team.

That's good enough for me Corky.

I read somewhere he hasn't played since June so he might not be up to full fitness.

Looking at clips I like what I see. Busy little player, comfortable taking the ball off the back 4 and getting the team on the front foot and starting off the attack.

He also looks like he has that bit of bite about him that we are in desperate need of and will allow Ramsey to play further up the pitch.
