Erol Bulut on Siopis: ‘He's a fighter who will work hard for

Fri Aug 18, 2023 3:27 pm

Erol Bulut on Siopis: ‘He's a fighter who will work hard for the team. It's really difficult to get a player like this. I brought him to Alanyaspor and he took a really big step to Trabzonspor. When we saw he became available, we contacted him and we have a really good relationship.’

Manolis Siopis exit details emerge
The details surrounding Manolis Siopis' contract termination at Trabzonspor have come to light in reports from Turkey.

Siopis had a year left to run on his deal in Trabzonspor, and was even offered a new three-year deal to boot, however Siopis opted to turn down the extension and instead engineered a way out of his contract. Cardiff could then pounce and sign him on a three-year deal themselves, which was announced earlier today.

The terms of that exit settlement have been reported by outlets and journalists in Turkey. Newspaper Haberturk state that Siopis had to pay €242,500 (£207,000) to exit his contract and his agent had to waive €257,500 (£220,000) he was due from the club.

Interestingly, in addition, it is reported that if Siopis transferred to any club from the Greek Super League, Saudi Arabia, the UAE or an English Premier League team by the end of 2023, €700,000 (598,000) would be due to Trabzonspor. If he went to another Turkish Super Lig team, Trabzonspor would have to be paid another €2m (£1.71m) by Siopis.

However, given Cardiff play in the Championship, it seems no more will be due out of his own pocket to his former club. But the sheer willing and financial commitment shown to get the player out of his contract will serve to delight Bluebirds fans, knowing how hard he has tried to get on board with Erol Bulut, his former Alanyaspor boss, and the project at Cardiff City.

Siopis was one of two signings announced today, along with goalkeeper Alex Runarsson on loan from Arsenal until the end of the season.

Blimey I bet his agent is spitting feathers, fair play to him also makes me think that it seems players who know Bulut want to play for him.
I just hope he is given time to build something here especially when we are free to buy again.

Nice to have a player who isn't chasing a wage and similar to Ramsey in terms of wanting to come and willing to sacrifice better offers etc. Hopefully gives the same vibes in dressing room and sorts the workers from the shirkers
