MY VIEW: “ ABSOLUTELY GUTTED / BUT “

Sat Aug 19, 2023 3:56 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

TODAY CARDIFF TOOK ON PROBABLY THE BEST SIDE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP & YES CARDIFF COULD OF BEEN 4 NIL DOWN / BUT ONCE RAMSEY EQUALISED CARDIFF ACTUALLY COULD OF WON THIS GAME / BUT SADLY QUALITY SHONE THROUGH & VARDY SCORED THE WINNER.

Cardiff need to be more clinical and need that quality striker

There were 3 changes, Ng, Adams, Grant out. Siopis & Runar on bench.

Might be only 1pt from 9pts, but we gave everything

Erol Buluts Blue and White Army.

I am gutted.

But we’ve not won so far this season

Leicester for only the 2nd time in 100 yrs have won their first three consecutive games.

Wednesday you are next and let’s put them to the sword.

FIRST-HALF: City defended and defended and in the end Leicester hit a well deserved goal and in fact shoukd of been 3nil up.
A total different class than Cardiff.
Against the run of play and not deserved, a 46th min stunner / magic equaliser by Ramsey made it 1-1.

SECOND-HALF: But since Ramsey equalised been a different game, but still over all Leicester had 70% of possession. Cardiff actually matched Leicester in this half and could of actually won.
Quality shines through yet again, very harsh on Cardiff.

Cardiff City: Alnwick; Romeo, McGuinness, Goutas, Collins; Wintle, Ralls; Bowler, Ramsey, O'Dowda; Ugbo.

Subs: Runarsson, Etete, Grant, Adams, Meite, Siopis, Simpson, Tanner, Robinson.

Post! Goutas affords Iheanacho too much space and he bends a left-footed shot at goal - but it pings off the post!
Jamilu Collins at fault

35t min : 1nil
Leicester City and well deserved

GOAL! Leicester City 1-0 Cardiff City (Marcal 35)

Goal! Marcal hammers home!

The pressure finally tells. Ugbo half clears a header at the near post and Marcal, from 15 yards out, half volleys it past Alnwick. Helluva strike.

Then Leicester with in mins should of been 2nil up.

46th min: GOAL! Leicester City 1-1 Cardiff City (Ramsey 45+1)
Oh my god. Ramsey. Screamer. 30 yards.

H-T 1-1

49th min:
Two great chances for City! Meite takes a lovely touch before laying off Ramsey, whose shot is blocked well. It falls to Ralls, who blasts a lovely shot low and forces a great save from Hermansen.

61st Min Ralls off, Siopis on.

For the Foxes it's Casadei on for Ndidi.

76th min: Substitutions.

Vardy on for Iheanacho for Leicester.

Goutas off for Simpson.

Ramsey off, Robinson on.

That was the chance to win it! Romeo with some stunning footwork to escape three tackles before sliding Meite through on goal. He only has the keeper to beat but it's a horrible effort that he drags wide

GOAL! Leicester City 2-1 Cardiff City (Casadei 90+2)

Goal Casadei.

Heartbreak for Cardiff. Vardy dances through a challenge and hits the deck - the ball falls to Casadei just yards out and he to hammers home.

Romeo off 96th min.

Done well today imo some positives but as I suspected we wouldn't get anything there. Simpson is such a shit defender he should be arrested for fraud. :bluescarf:

Fwiw. I don’t think there will be many stronger sides than Leeds and Leicester. It’s probably a good thing we have got them out the way early doors.

Still work to do. We have increased strength in depth in most areas but defence is poor for back up.

Ng wouldn’t have been sent off. I doubt he woikd have spaffed the ball across box for a clearance either. We definitely need another cb and I wonder if bulut may feel he can’t trust Romeo either now.

I don't think I have ever felt so positive about a loss.

Obviously the strength in depth is not there but that transitional season looks on the cards.

Re: MY VIEW: “ ABSOLUTELY GUTTED / BUT “

Sat Aug 19, 2023 4:05 pm

Lot of positives second half.
But unlike most other players on the pitch, Robinson wont put in a challenge when not in possession.
I was worried when he came on. Doesn’t close down peoperly when not in possessuon, and wont tackle. Not a Bulut type player. Get rid.

Season starts now for me.

Not many teams will go away to Leeds and Leicester and get points this season. Next week we have to win, new lad in midfield looked good Miete up front better than Ugbo, but seriously need to get fit. Six points from the next three for me... we need to give this time to bed in.

Out luck has to turn at some point but we have to learn how to see out a game and hold on to some points .A draw would of been outstanding instead a minute later it feels shit again.
If the players keep doing it and keep going they will get there reward.
Keep going lads unlucky today there

Meite offers much more upfront than Ugbo in all around play but I think I’d trust Ugbo more to put away a goal.

Simpson I don’t really see the point in criticising because he’s just nowhere near this level and probably isn’t League One level either.

Pointing fingers at Robinson who instead of trying to win the ball back for the goal just started waving his hands around complaining, should know better.

Romeo will get rightfully criticised for his sending off but I thought that until injury time he was fantastic.

Collins was great again on the other side.

Siopis looks like a class above even the Leicester midfield.

Wintle was very quiet, I hadn’t even realised he was on the pitch until half time.

Though he misplaced and miscontrolled a few passes I hope it’s a Ralls-Siopis midfield going forward.

Hope Alnwick keeps his spot even if Runarsson impresses in his week of training.

We done ok but unfortunately ok is not quite good enough away to Leicester.
Need a win against Wednesday to build confidence now.

Re: MY VIEW: “ ABSOLUTELY GUTTED / BUT “

Sat Aug 19, 2023 4:11 pm

Didn't expect anything. We are so far away in terms of quality From the top sides.
Still, far from disgraced ourselves away from home again, although conceding another late goal shows mentality issues
We must beat Wednesday now

And Ramsey is again godlike!

I too am keen to see ralls and Siopis. He looks really neat.

Desperate for defence back up.

I think Ramsey still needs to adjust a bit to playing with a “less smart” attack. There were a few times that he saw things that no one else did and we lost the ball as a result.

I think him learning to slow it down a bit is more likely than any of our players reaching his level of reading the game.

Re: MY VIEW: “ ABSOLUTELY GUTTED / BUT “

Hopefully that should come on more as they train more and play more together. He’s definitely on another level though.

Listening to the stupid commentators on radio wales saying Cardiff could win this in extra time, idiots we all know we would be happy with a point and most likely lose in the last minute ( which happened) You need to foul , stop - whatever you can to not let a goal in the last minute. Also not clever to have all subs on , and someone gets injured and you cannot make a change in the last few minutes.

I missed the first half, but enjoyed the second and thought we played well. The only complaints is why switch it up when we were so on top, or was Ralls and Ramsey injured. When Simpson came on and they brought Vardy on, I kind felt something was going to give. I guess we have to look on the positive side, I think once we get a settled team we might be alright.

A few wins needed and the confidence in this team will help so much and I can see us looking pretty decent soon

Re: MY VIEW: “ ABSOLUTELY GUTTED / BUT “

Cruel game but if you defend like Wintle & Simpson in the lead up to the winner then unfortunately you get punished.

The one on one Meite has to take that at championship level.

The pass ran perfectly for him.

The fact that they could bring vardy on says it all really
Yes some positives for sure
I do like this manager - got a good feeling about him

Thought Robinson was worse than poor when he came on & said so after 10 minutes. By the time they scored he was reminding me of Moore once he had downed tools, zero effort to win the ball & lots of arm waving.

We can't keep on having hard luck stories
We need Ramsey to play a full game.
A decent striker and centre back would help.
Quite how we manage that God knows with the embargo.
Did we really need to fill up a loan space with a new keeper.?
.
