Cardiff City suffered late heartbreak for the second time this season after Cesare Casadei scored a debut goal to nick an injury-time winner for Leicester City.

Wanya Marcal had put the hosts in front in the first half with a rasping shot from the edge of the box. But Aaron Ramsey almost earned Cardiff a point with what will surely be the goal of the season.

Ramsey picked the ball up 30 yards from goal and hammered it into the top corner of the Foxes' goal on the stroke of half time, giving City some optimism heading into the break.

And despite having a number of excellent chances in the second half, they couldn't take any of them. Casadei, meanwhile, did, sweeping home to secure a last-gasp win for the hosts.

There were changes from the defeat against QPR - three in total, with Perry Ng, Karlan Grant and Ebou Adams making way for Mahlon Romeo, Jamilu Collins and Joe Ralls. New signings Manolis Siopis and Alex Runarsson on the bench.

It was always going to be a tough ask for City at the King Power Stadium and Leicester, who were undefeated heading into the match, started the game confidently.

They fired off an early warning shot when Kelechi Iheanacho moved the ball on to his left foot and pinged a shot off from 20 yards which cannoned into the post.

The hosts, perhaps predictably, dominated the ball and the territory. As the first half wore on, it became clear that the Foxes were in the ascendancy and it looked to be a matter of time before City's net bulged.

It came via a corner which was half cleared by Ike Ugbo but it fell to Marcal, who struck it cleanly into the top corner with a scorching half volley.

Just minutes later, they looked certain to double the lead when Stephy Mavididi found himself clean through on goal, but an outstretched Jak Alnwick boot kept him at bay.

The Bluebirds were praying for half time as Leicester dominated, but one speculative, magical effort from Aaron Ramsey before the break produced a moment City fans will never forget.

Thirty yards from goal, the Wales captain banged an effort swirling into the top corner to leave the King Power stunned. His first City goal in 11 years and, boy, was it worth the wait. He sprinted to the other end of the pitch to celebrate with the travelling fans, who were in raptures despite a poor first-half showing up until that point.

Cardiff had their foot in the game, only just, courtesy of a Ramsey stunner at the break.

The visitors started far better in the second half, with Yakou Meite coming on and leading the line strongly, affording City the opportunity to break. Indeed, his first action saw him lay off Ramsey on the counter and the goalscorer's shot was blocked before Joe Ralls followed it up and struck his own low effort on goal, which was saved brilliantly by Hermansen.

Manolis Siopis was introduced for his debut and looked tidy and energetic in the midfield as Cardiff gained far more control than they had seen in the first 45 minutes.

Then came City's chance to win it. Mahlon Romeo, who had endured a mixed game, suddenly came to life with a stunning run which saw him take out three Foxes defenders before releasing Meite. The Ivorian was clean through on goal and had only the goalkeeper to beat - but he snatched at his chance and pulled his left-footed effort wide of the mark. He lay on the floor for 30 seconds afterwards, which summed up just how good of a chance he had spurned.

And it was always going to happen. They were always going to rue that chance. Two minutes into stoppage time, Jamie Vardy danced through a challenge or two and the ball fell to Casadei, who smacked home from point-blank range.

To top a poor afternoon, Mahlon Romeo was then shown a red card after receiving two yellows.

Cruel for Cardiff. After that 96th-minute leveller by Leeds United in the opening game, that's three points lost in injury time. But that's now two goals conceded in every game so far this season, which is nowhere near good enough.
