No way would that game go ahead, on that pitch, now. John Greig is the Scots player BTW.

Have a look at the Big Match Revisited it is incredible one game at Luton there was about four inched of snow ! The only accomodation they made was an orange ball. White Hart Lane in the 70's was a beach basically

More to do with it being a better spectacle, modern football seems to blend each game into a season long one . Football can be very bland ,devoid of characters, incidents, atmosphere, all very forensic.
