Injury news?

A few injuries. Josh Bowler continues to be injured. And now we add O’Dowda to that. That looks like two or three weeks. But we still have enough players to put on the field!

Would you still be happy with the window as a whole if no signings?




We made eight transfers. So it’s not easy for us really, we can’t buy players, only buy and loan free players. We were working really hard on it with the recruitment guys. We made good transfers, in my opinion, for what was possible.

Right now we need a centre-back and this is what we are trying to finalise. If not, we have to go with what we have right now.

The last game against Birmingham, we created defenders from our midfielders and full-backs. They played a good game and we changed the system. It looked good for that game, you just don’t know with other games.

But we saw we could use a couple of players for the centre-back position. Ng, Romeo or even Adams can play in that position. Then we would have to use them. I think we will get at least one more centre-back in.

Ryan Allsop move to Hull City, that a move that suits everyone?

Ryan, this was a movement from his management side. We were not thinking about making this move. They asked for it, they had it in their head to move, so then we get it in our head to move them out. We did it and right now everything is OK.

I have two great goalkeepers, they are playing well. Alex we saw against Birmingham, a good performance. Jak had good performances before that. We will continue with them.

Others who could leave? Rinomhota?

I don’t know which clubs they are talking with. I was clear with my players, I spoke with them, how I think for the future with them, we have a lot of midfielders, some will be out of the squad. I talked with all of them, so everyone knows what is going on. I didn’t hide anything. If they go, they go, if not, they know the situation.

If Andy has something, for him it would be good (for him to leave). He is 26/27. He is our player. So he will continue with us and we will see.

How good can Colwill be?

I speak to Rubin and in front of you (the media), he is a good player, he can be much, much better. A few things he has to change in his game. Sometimes when one possession is finished he is stopping - he has to continue. Not only with the ball, without the ball we have things we have to do on the field. He has to work on it a little.

I try to give it to my players that everyone wants to win, managers, players, training matches I want to win. I try to give them the winning spirit and just to think positively.

To dream about the match and how they want to do it. These are important things and I try to give them all positive things.

'I need centre-backs!' Erol Bulut makes Cardiff City transfer plea and hopes for happy surprise before deadline day

The Bluebirds boss spoke about his hopes for the rest of the transfer window

Cardiff City manager Erol Bulut hopes to add at least one centre-back to his side before Friday's transfer deadline and has not ruled out the possibility of signing a striker.

The Bluebirds have added eight players so far in this window, but the team Bulut named on Tuesday night against Birmingham City, a game they won 3-1, included no centre-backs, such is their shortage in that position.

Bulut was clear that he wants to bolster that position before the window shuts at the end of the week.

The Welsh manager - if I was the Welsh manager he would be one of my first choices in the team. I don’t know the whole squad and I respect his choices, but I think he will be in his squad (in the future).

We stay with our feet on the floor. We won’t fly. We still have to work hard every day. It’s difficult. Ipswich will not be easy, they are a good team.

He will stay definitely with us. He has shown in all the last four or five games a good performance. He is working really hard and you can see in him that he really wants it. He will get his chances.

We don’t have any problem with any of our players with their attitudes. I have really good characters. I hope that continues until the end of the season

Pleasing performance against Birmingham?




Slowly we are getting to what I want to see. How I want them to play. Against Birmingham they did a good job. The young players and the more experienced players - Sawyers, Rinomhota played good games. It was a good performance for the whole game. Rubin, Ollie Tanner, KG (Grant) was good. The performance was good. This is how my players have to play.

New contracts in the offing

Erol Bulut has revealed more players are in line for new contracts after Perry Ng, Ryan Wintle and Mark McGuinness all pledged their futures to the club.

The manager is keen to build a future at Cardiff and wants players who are seeing their contracts run out get tied down to longer deals.

At time of writing, Rubin Colwill, Romaine Sawyers, Jamilu Colllins, Jack Simpson, Jak Alnwick, Ollie Tanner and Kieron Evans all have less than a year to run on their contracts.

Asked if any other players were going to pen new deals in the near future, Bulut replied: "Good question! There will be one or two players that will get new contracts.

"We have to build. We cannot wait until contracts are finished and then after January we start talks and it's too late!"
