How bad does that make:

Fri Sep 01, 2023 9:56 am

Steve Morison’s Squad when so far Erol Bulut has had to bring in 9 New players, mad as I remember many raving about his squad last season.

With Glen Williams making most sound like superstars.

League position don’t lie, City ended up 4th from bottom.

I do expect this new squad to make Top 8 if they are as good as many are saying.

SO FAR EROL BULUT HAS SIGNED NINE PLAYERS:

Dimitris Goutas, Ike Ugbo, Yakou Meite, Aaron Ramsey , Karlan Grant, Josh Bowler. Manolis Siopis , Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson , Jonathan Panzo .

And by tonight up to 12 will have gone out.

And all done whilst under an embargo..
What a difference a real manager can make.

He's done an outstanding job so far Annis. If we could get 1or 2 more in today, maybe Caulker as backup in squad and KM or AN Other we will be in great shape to strengthen in January. Win tomorrow and 7 points and the beginnings of a cup run will be a great start for a squad and manager gelling to head in to the Break and the Derby.

Huw,

I have to say compared to our last 4 pretend managers he is the Jackpot.

I said we had an awful squad right from the off. I got slagged off by the deluded within us.

The first game I saw was WBA away. A dire game but a good result for us, 0-0 away. However the 90 minute watch was heart stopping as we played it out from the back. It was obvious to me we did not have the right players to play like that.

The next game for me was Middlesborough away. The Boro screwed it up in the first half as they played a high line to counter us playing out from the back. Thing is we went direct, caught them on the hop and went 3-0 into the break. None of us there that night could believe what we had just watch. Well it was a good job we had that 3 -0 lead because we nearly screwed it up. The Boro came out playing a bit deeper and we could not get the ball out of our half. They got 2 goals in a minutes but we managed to hold on.

Next up became the final straw for Morison, Huddersfield away where we were very poor and lost 1-0. It was one of those performances where we all remained in our seats at FT wondering what we had watch. Later we heard Morison was sacked and although it was a surprise at the time we should have all seen it coming.

Now a season later we are seeing the Morison signing leave. None of us should be surprised by this.

I know we had and indeed have financial constraints. But Bulut has shown quite clearly that with some ingenuity, contacts and a vision you can signs quality players for no fees paid. Sure the wages are important to factor in but I would have thought we are still more or less in line with clubs around us. Every single player we have signed has been better than last seasons players signed. And every single player is a potential first 11 starter on paper. No fillers. No exciting potential in the future. How long has it been since we did that?? It’s as it shoikd be. Sign a better player than you already have and make the original player up their performances

The reality is, no-one knew how Morrissons signings would perform. I recall people raving about them in the first few games and our "new style".

The root cause was, he shouldn't have ever had the job, demonstrated his inexperience and then they followed the exact same model with Hudson coming after him.

It's a nice feeling to have someone who knows what they are doing as a manager.

The cheap option morrison was with cheap players now somehow we got freebies and loans which obviously ain't as cheap as previous and a better pedigree manager. Money has come from somewhere for this but in the end its due back where it come from but for now we enjoy the ride :bluescarf:

Will say jamilu Collins was a good signing by morison
As long as he rediscovers his early season form from before injury

The squad was Div 1.
To get a tune out of them for championship was possible, but they'd have to be tip top cup final every game.
That is not possible, hence the consistent inconsistency...

This mess had been coming a number of seasons. Bulut seems like a real manager. Hope we keep him..
