Interesting.

Bulut did say he ideally wanted two new CBs.

Batth would obviously come in as back up, and would be a good move.

Sunderland player of the season last year.

on 49 appearances for them so one would guess they’re trying to avoid triggering 50? maybe owe someone money if they do? guessing we’d get him on a free then so it wouldn’t have to be finalised today

They may want it done today so it frees a space to bring someone else in ?

they can mutually terminate his contract today we wouldn’t necessarily need to sign him up today if that happens

It would have to be done today unless they terminated his contract today. If they terminated his contract tomorrow then he can't sign for anyone until January.

Even if it was a free transfer it has to be done today. The only deals that can be done after today are for free agents who were free agents before the deadline.

Three new defenders on one day? Very interesting Roger!

If he (Barth) plays one more game for Sunderland it triggers a £250k payment to Stoke ?

Always been a fan of Danny Batth, real strong aggressive centre back. He played against us once and Sean Morrison couldn't cope with him when defending corners. Batth scored from one too. If this comes off that would be 4 quality centre backs to choose from. Great strength in depth and all good enough to play in the first team...seriously, what the hell has happened to Cardiff City this season!!!

QPR and Blackburn have both attempted to sign him this window and he rejected Rovers earlier this month.

Unless there's a shock exit and McGuiness is sold ?

Would certainly be an amzing situation to suddenly have 4 quality centre backs if he was to arrive.

Blackburn were after him, Sunderland supporters player of the year last year, leader on the field and one of the best tacking and heading stats in the championship

North East reporters saying the deal is OFF.

But we are talking to another CB.

Re: Danny Batth

Fri Sep 01, 2023 3:38 pm

Stories emerging now that Batth was an option if Panzo didn't sign.
So whether there are legs on this deal will remain to be seen. Its is worth note though that there is apparently no way he will play for his club again due to fee owed if he does play and that his contract mat be ended by mutual consent which suggests he could sign on a free transfer at any point. :ayatollah:

Looks like he's gone for one :sad7:

That would be a shame if it's off he's a good player, he would have started with Panzo.
