Duff's derby day risk

"It's an important game, but it's not the be-all and end-all. I'd rather win promotion and get beat by Cardiff twice."

It's fair to say those comments from Swansea City boss Michael Duff caused a bit of stir on social media.

After overseeing a dire performance in a defeat at home to Bristol City, the Northern Irishman committed what many in these parts consider a cardinal sin.

To play down the significance of the South Wales derby is seldom ever advisable for a manager.

After all, come Saturday night, this fixture will be the only thing that matters.

Even the previous derby success that Swans fans have dined out on for much of the last 10 years will temporarily be put to one side come 7.45pm on Saturday.

Since Steven Caulker headed home to hand Cardiff a 1-0 win in the first ever Premier League meeting 10 years ago, the Bluebirds have mustered just one win to Swansea's seven.
