Ex Cardiff lJay Bothroyd has labelled Aaron Ramsey as "different class" following his display against Swansea City in the South Wales derby and picked out two others for praise.
Ramsey scored the second from the penalty spot in a 2-0 win over their local rivals to end a wretched run in this fixture. For the latest Cardiff City news sent straight to your inbox, sign up here.
Ollie Tanner grabbed the first after only being on the field a matter of minutes, and Bothroyd reserved a special mention for him too, alongside Karlan Grant and Yakou Meite.
JAY BOTHROYD:
"Even though Ollie Tanner got the man-of-the-match award, Ramsey was different class," Bothroyd said on Sky Sports. "There was a lot of sloppy play in the first half and even in the second half but he was that person who had that extra bit of quality to create.
"He took the penalty so well. But Ollie Tanner, big credit to him as well, he come off the bench, it's not always easy to come on the pitch and make a difference. But in 40 seconds he's controlled the ball, come inside and hit it. He was so direct.
"From a Swansea point of view, I think he should intercept this. As he's brought it down, he's come inside and he'#s hit it, I mean that's an unbelievable strike. The keeper has got absolutely no chance. (Kristian) Pederson... I spoke to Ash (Williams), he should turn the other way and another defender shouldn't be coming out to block it. But take nothing away from the strike. It was unbelievable. His first couple of touches and it's in the back of the net."
Bothroyd picked out the trio who he felt were the "difference" on Saturday evening.
"Meite, Grant, Ramsey, they were the difference," he added. "Meite, straightaway in the second half had a shot from 25 yards. I think that was intent. Off the back of that it really pushed Cardiff on, and Swansea had no real answer. They were sitting back, they didn't really get out over the halfway line. It was only in the last five minutes that they really got into Cardiff's box. But that second half was really positive and Cardiff can really build in this now."
