Cardiff City are sorting out a new contract for Ollie Tanner; hopefully a long-term one, so when a club tried to get him we make a few bob on him

I understand the clamour for a new contract as he has impact when teams are tired, but I do not see him making the grade at a higher level.

Has only been a professional a season. A huge jump to the championship and will probably take two seasons to see whether he makes the grade at this level. Last season would have been a huge adjustment in terms of conditioning, training every day and speed of play. Not surprising he struggled. Has raw talent and so far this season, has shown he can make an impact. Makes sense to offer him a new contract now, before his stock rises (hopefully). Wages will be low. Still has lots to improve upon but think he will do well for us.

Club in talks with star over contract -
Cardiff City are in talks with South Wales derby hero Ollie Tanner over signing a new contract.
The winger, 21, was signed from non-league Lewes FC a little more than a year ago for £50,000 on an initial two-year deal. WalesOnline understands the club have an option to extend that by a further year.
However, it appears the wheels are already in motion to get him tied down to better terms. Bluebirds CEO Ken Choo said: "Behind the scenes we are talking, as always, we will reach a deal with him.
"He has shown great prospect in the last couple of weeks, but there is a long-term plan and he has a long way to go. But from what we have seen so far, we are happy."

Jamie vardy took a tear to make an impact and look what happened. Not saying tanner will be same but you can see thr benefit of full time training professionally is starting to help him

Had some great moments in game but will alot to work on. Only 21 and had 1 year as a pro, great to tie him down and this season he should improve alot!

Still young and plenty of time to improve and progress.
Probably will be used gradually when the other wingers are fit

Well Ollie Tanner proved me wrong and I am very happy to admit it
